Pros

If you happen to be in NYC, you have a good office to go to. Remote work also available for those who prefer remote.

Cons

Everything from the top down (literally) Executive management consists of thugs / intimidating folks who get away with anything. (YES, ANYTHING - one member of our executive management team berates folks based on their place of birth, there's been no follow up nor investigation by HR despite complaints) It is extremely common to get publicly humiliated here and this activity is common by members of executive management and has trickled down to the worker level. NOTHING is taught here and employees are overworked to DEATH. Work life balance is non-existent and when a fellow coworker wanted to take a day off to take their child to the hospital, their manager humiliated them in front of others on a virtual call and questioned their commitment level to the company's goal. Anything promised during interviews will not be fulfilled, this is not a place to learn nor grow your career. It's the best place if you're seeking a very unhealthy company with toxic management. Anything promised regarding burnout and mental health is just a lie - resources for mental sanity that are provided have be taken away and more people are looking to leave than ever before. There are certain members of Executive Management that make it a goal to burnout someone every month purposely so that they "thin out the ranks" rather than effectively coach/train people that they've hired / manage.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. Reading your comments here I am extremely concerned about how you have described your experience at Zip. We have always stated that the wellbeing of our employees is our number one priority, and your summation of your time with us goes against everything that we stand for as an organisation. We founded Zip nine years ago with the intention to create a truly great place to work, and we work hard to ensure our culture of respect and inclusion is central to everything we do. Along with yourself, the ongoing welfare of your former colleagues is something we deeply care about. With this in mind I would like to invite you to please reach out to me personally for a discussion in absolute confidence. You can reach me directly via email larry(at)zip.co or via LinkedIn. Hope to speak to you soon, Larry, Global CEO Zip

Terrible workplace

Pros

Office is full of energy and positivity (a lot of it being fake). Company is quite successful from the outside.

Cons

High rate of attrition. Low standards of acceptable professional behaviour, bullying and political games are very common and tolerated. Interference from every direction because everyone has an opinion on how wrong everyone else is doing their work. Company direction is all over the place. Unfair expectation to work over-time for the so-called 'startup' culture with no additional compensation.

A dumpster fire to avoid

Pros

A steady check regularly. The ability to work remotely. Pretty decent benefits. Mostly talented people. Great snacks in the office

Cons

The word toxic is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Zip. This is an utterly broken environment. Leaders are incompetent. Managers are not experts and cannot lead a team correctly; they're just abysmal. The marketing team is overworked, stressed and tired, but do leaders care? Of course not. Your mental health is not important, but HR will tell you that is it. It's a subpar ploy to keep you from looking elsewhere. HR and the People team do not care about your wellbeing, so good luck. Be careful in applying here, you just might get laid off like so many others have. One of the CEOs specifically laughed and said that we wouldn't have summer Fridays or a 4 day work week. Upward progression is nonexistent, unless you brown nose your way up. Work life balance does not exist here as well. You will work more than 40 hours a week, have meetings that could've been emails and you will be stressed out. No one cares because we are all stressed out. So many talented people have quit and it's become even more difficult working here.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. The opinions of our current Zipsters really matter to us, as we're always looking to improve the experience for our global team. We're really saddened to hear that parts of your experience have left you feeling this way, and it's of real concern to hear that you're feeling overworked and that your mental health isn't important. Providing Zipsters choice on how and where they work and supporting with wellbeing initiatives is a big part of our employment offer, but it appears we haven't been able to design an experience that's quite right for you. That's absolutely something we can look into for you. If you haven't felt able to raise how you have been feeling with the team, would you be open to a confidential conversation with me? When we speak I can gather the information I need to investigate further, and then start to put some support mechanisms in place. I would really appreciate a further conversation and I remain open for one at any time that suits. Please contact people@zip.co and we'll set up some time. Angie, People Partner US
