The interview process felt surprisingly unprofessional for a company positioning itself as a serious player in the space. After multiple rounds, the experience ultimately left me with concerns about leadership maturity and culture fit.
The recently hired Head of Sales came across as unnecessarily condescending and overly confident, while lacking some of the people and relationship-building skills actually required to achieve the ambitious goals being discussed. There was a noticeable disconnect between the company’s aspirations and the professionalism displayed during the process.
Ironically, I likely would have declined an offer regardless, as it became increasingly difficult to picture reporting into that type of leadership dynamic long term.
What stood out most, though, was the lack of basic professional courtesy afterward — no meaningful follow-up despite the time invested on both sides. Particularly disappointing given I had been considering making a prospective retailer introduction to the company through a former industry relationship, but ultimately decided against it after the experience.
No thanks.
