Great people, Awful boss

Pros

The employees are nice, and it was a fun environment when the boss was out of the office.

Cons

No medical benefits. The owner of the company has an extremely old school and rigid way of running his company, which is really too bad considering it is an online marketing agency. Although they allow you to work from home 2 days a week, if you do not meet performance quota, that will be taken away, or better yet you will be let go. Very inflexible with the schedule and super micro-managers. Everyone works in a common area in the middle of the office, so bring your headphones, keep your head down and don't dare talk to employees or you will invite the wrath of the owner that sits a few feet away. Make sure you let your supervisor know when you're on break or lunch so that if they see you checking private email, etc... you won't get in trouble. The company had a hard time retaining clients because they didn't provide value, so it will be your job to kiss the customers butt and make it right. If you do not keep the already angry customers happy, you will be blamed, disciplined, or possibly let go. Don't get sick or have medical problems because doctors appointments are looked down on. If you are a talented person looking for a good company to work for, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. You'll wish you had listened to this advice if you don't.

Every individual on our team is a highly valued A player that loves the work they do. We hire people that are a good culture fit, love what they do, have a positive attitude and have the aptitude for growth. We pay team members well and have a jealousy inducing list of benefits (including Health Benefit, 401(k) w/ 100% match, Paid Vacation, Paid Holidays, Paid Volunteering, Company Happy Hour every month, quarterly fun events, education fund, profit sharing and there's more). Our team members are the most important element of our company as they take care of our clients and so we treat them very well. Sometimes when you hire an employee that is not a good fit, no matter how much you try to help them they won't be able to excel in their job. Unfortunately, this individual slipped through our otherwise extremely successful hiring process. After a number of employee complaints and client complaints we deemed they were not a good fit and we had to let them go because they couldn't do the job effectively and had a poor attitude. Unfortunately, they decided to put this fabrication here, but it is good for you to know if you don't enjoy what you do, have a positive attitude and are excited about challenging yourself in your craft then we're probably not a good fit. Best of luck in your job search!

Pros

Having lived the agency life for nearly a decade, I can firmly say that this is the best firm I've ever worked for. The people are fantastic and everyday presents a new challenge or opportunity. The benefits are robust and a medical incentive is provided to each employee after 90 days which gives me the freedom to shop in the open market for a medical plan that works for my specific needs. The company follows a set of core values and processes to help drive customer satisfaction and productivity so where we push to build successes for clients, and ourselves, we also find time to relax and have fun at monthly happy hour events, annual company parties, holiday gatherings and more. We also offer snacks/drinks in the office on a regular basis and are constantly looking to develop our culture further. We celebrate our wins and study our losses to find ways to grow and improve. We provide awesome flexibility in handling medical issues as well as taking personal time off. A work/life balance is extremely important here and is communicated on a regular basis.

Cons

At times, it might feel like you, or a team, is being micro-managed, however, we're simply focused on delivering at the highest level possible and while we try and find the right people for the job, it doesn't always work out, and that's okay! Job joy is everything and the only "con" I have is that there are more people who like Marvel, than DC in the office.
