Pros

Low cost of living, remote work available. Flexible work environment. Great culture among the content creators and lower management. Focus on diversity and welcoming atmosphere.

Cons

Always behind industry trends Chronic understaffing. Micromanagement. Poor leadership. Uncompetitive salary. Very few bonuses which are always small when they are given. Severe overdependence on outsourcing. Constant delays make games take forever to release which end up un-polished. Stagnant game design philosophy leads to non-competitive mediocre products. IP can never escape the shadow of other games that dominate the genre, but are given higher weight than the more unique IP's the studio has produced. Scheduling leads to burnout. Little room for employee skill growth.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback. Your point about hiring more senior people is well-taken, and we’ve already added some new studio-level hires who are really going to level up the studio and our capacity to focus on employee development. We're also continuing to add more resources for continuous, on-the-job training. We sincerely appreciate the review and wish you the best of luck wherever your career takes you.

Endless Potential

Pros

The atmosphere and culture is casual and largely everyone is open to collaboration. No idea is too silly and if you have the will, you are often empowered to find a way.

Cons

You aren't always given the resources necessary to complete tasks to the quality level matching the rest of the industry. Higher levels of management can be a bit opaque and the studio is often hamstrung by tight budgets, resulting in non-competitive perks compared to other game studios.

Pros

Culture, events, quality of life (rarely do we crunch, and not for long), great leadership, cheaper area to live.

Cons

Midwest isn't for everyone. Weather is rough in the winter. There's honestly no major con about the studio itself - it's a dream company.
