Ageism at it's finest

Pros

Most people working here that are not leaders are young (20s) Pay every two weeks

Cons

No leadership whatsoever. CEO is asleep at the wheel. Complete chaos. No planning. Constantly missing deadlines. Low compensation unless you know the right people, or are a young man. Get paid the same as co-workers 15 years younger than you while you are teaching them to do their job. Men getting paid 40% more than equally qualified women with more work experience. Rather than change managing their existing staff, they laid off loyal employees of 10, 15, 25 years to replace them with 25 year olds that came cheap, they just have no idea how to do their jobs. I don't know how purposefully hiring "early-in-career" can't be characterized as deliberate age discrimination. Hopefully going to find a new job where I don't have to babysit.

Pros

Nice cooperate office in downtown Denver (if you are lucky enough to get on the nice floor) otherwise you are put somewhere else that may not even be finished ECO Pass and decent benefits

Cons

Clueless upper management, they talk a great game but never follow through Awards (Comparably, best CEO, place to work in Denver, etc.) are fake – only targeted people give feedback. Read software product reviews for true ratings of the company They hire for volume not quality. Over 50% of the people there are completely useless, some development teams have never delivered a product or functionality to market Most insurance-based knowledge has left the company through office closings Development Managers are young, immature, ambitious and will cut your throat in a minute Pretends to be a Start up (actually offered tours for Denver Start up week). The company’s software in most cases is over 20 years old. Tech stack is ancient, and they are very deceptive about what you will work on.

Pros

Most of the people working there are great people. They are friendly and persevere through the corporate BS that weighs heavily on all of their operations. The office is slick and new, with a great presence in downtown Denver. If you are new to the workforce than this is a good resume builder for you.

Cons

So many. If you are an experienced worker who has worked for a good company before, you will likely hate it here. The company (more-so the parent investors) take as much advantage of the employees and especially the customers as they can. Most of the really great hires don’t stick around for long. The slick office has a great appearance, but inside things can get toxic on a daily basis. They would brag about amenities like their ping pong tables to the new hires, but last year one of the top sales leaders publicly shamed the sales staff into not using them during work hours. People try so hard to make things better, but senior leadership (all the way to the top spot) will oftentimes stop them dead in their tracks. Their technology stack internally and externally is laughable at times. Most of the product offerings are antiquated dinosaurs, yet they will tell the customers that they are the best options on the market (most of the times they are not). The sales leaders were all hired as buddies of their bosses, and have way too long of a leash for error. Some leaders have seen 80%-100% of their teams (of 10 employees) quit or leave their team, without even a slap on the wrist (protected by their friends/bosses). Certain people will perform just as well as others, but will leap positions into promotions that confuse the rest of the staff. Generally due to their questionable relationships with bosses. Sales practices to hit quota are super shady at times, and ethically and morally questionable. But not reprimanded by the sales leaders as long as you hit your numbers. "Customer satisfaction" seems like an oxymoron. If you are in a customer facing role, brace yourself, it will be very ugly many days. Much of their customer base will tell you that they feel “stuck” with Vertafore, due to slimy contract terms, and constant blind price increases. Good luck hitting your quota when you have customers yelling at you all day and sending you angry emails. The sad part is that most of the customer’s complaints are very justified. Vertafore talks about “doing right by the customer”, but customers and employees will laugh at that as being just lip service (because it is). For a 40 year old company, they don’t even begin to have their stuff together. Most long term employees openly discuss looking for a better job. Pay is about as low as you can get for the roles. Not competitive at all, especially for Denver now being a tech hub. Benefits are mediocre. Health insurance is pretty basic, and can get costly. Every little thing they do is to maximize profits for Vista/Baine wherever they can, at everyone else expense. The employees see it and know it, and the customers have begun to see it (and complain about it often). Much of the sales leadership needs a major refresh, but this will never happen as they “play the corporate system” too well. They is so much “CYA” at the senior level, that it is often disgusting and discouraging to the rest of the staff. Again, good people to hang out with, but the company overall feels like a gold-plated turd!
