Constant downsizing. In 6 years I have seen layoffs during every one of them. In recent years this has been due to outsourcing positions. The layer upon layer of management that chokes progress in this company remains intact, engineering is usually affected the most.
Most departments have an us vs. them mentality. There is no "one TiVo", it's every department for themselves, customers be damned. Trying to get problems fixed on the product side is near impossible due to this as each department will blame another and everyone just waits and hopes the customer complaining simply goes away.
Did I mention downsizing? Don't get used to things being a certain way, you and your co-workers are numbers and will be treated like numbers. At least once a year, sometimes twice, you will hear about large layoffs across the company that will completely baffle you as good workers are let go so that TiVo can save money again. Don't worry, your manager will be safe, they always are. Upper management will also continue to fly everywhere on a regular basis rather then use one of the three videoconferencing options they have licensed, so do not worry about their frequent flyer miles.
Older products are left to rust and die while customers continue to use them. Any effort made to maintain them is at a bare minimum yet sales continues to sell them.
Rovi is poisonous for TiVo consumers. If the level of innovation from Rovi continues to bleed over you can say goodbye to what was once a revolutionary company.
Values are a buzzword. You are asked to live their values but nobody does. The total extent of "culture" in this company is a joke.
