I worked at Sun Life full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company itself is excellent, great benefits like health insurance, sports and social events, discounts and the working hours are fair, paid sick leave and full annual leave. Good opportunity to progress with certain departments

    Cons

The service desk is a very busy technical call centre department. It can be a very stressful environment due to the volume of calls and the vast amount of knowledge you need to know to resolve issues.

    Advice to Management

Management are very supportive and respected. Going forward I would recommend increase in refresher training and attending to better morale in the Service Desk department.

I worked at Sun Life full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Job security There are some nice people Some benefits

    Cons

Poor work life balance Too much expected in a short time Extra roles offered without extra pay Poor management

    Advice to Management

Get your act together, this isn't school, there's no need for clicky, snidy remarks and behaviour. Free cake and chocolates doesn't boost morale.

I worked at Sun Life full-time for less than a year

    Pros

colleagues were great, we had brilliant few nights out

    Cons

Bad management, load of calls coming in , call centre environment, no holidays, money is very bad compared to same jobs in different companies, HR is practically running the show

    Advice to Management

Take care of the mental health of your employee and instead of raising money for charities (PR obvisouly) for suicide prevention, spend your efforts on taking care of your own people.

I worked at Sun Life full-time for more than a year

    Pros

the only benefit I would say is the money but only is you are bilingual or for a young person to save money for a better career at college as I did

    Cons

management/ very poor and unqualified. management they would screw you up if you complain about their behaviour of if you not agree with their unprofessional attitude. the hours are the worst, sometimes you can work early shift and other weeks night shift, which make it difficult to have any kind of relation outside the work. the sneaky actions of uneducated and management who drop school at 16 years, they are... keeling the nature of the job by their sneaky actions. they would highly prefer to work with people who are related to them, so if you are not very well know in Waterford or does not have any referral , no worth try unless if they are really desperate to hire bilingual hostile environment where gossip and bad attitude are highlighted every second. Very sad and ugly faces all around the office. seriously, you will see all kind of people there that you never imagine, physically and mentally

    Advice to Management

go back to school and educate yourself get out of your village and learn how to respect yourself and then try to respect others the top management in the help desk who is running as director for 20 years now, please have little bit of dignity and leave the place, you careless attitude and delegating power to brainless management are the major issue.

I worked at Sun Life for more than 8 years

    Pros

Agile Working environment, Great office Space, Excellent canteen with subsidized catering company, wonderfully supportive Senior Leaders - great employer/ employee communication of company changes, focus on employee wellness, with great overall benefits.

    Cons

The only downside was the location. The town itself was limited (for me personally - but great for young families) The company does, however, cater for singles with wonderful diverse sports and social club activities.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. And continuously look for ways to motivate and engage staff into all that the company has to offer.
