Pros

Your coworkers may be some of your best friends. Good work/life balance overall. CEO is great.

Cons

There is high turnover because the company lacks good management, specifically from HR. Hardworking employees are underpaid and fired with no prior warning or communication.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We are so pleased to see that you have made such great friends during your time at Spongecell. Working so closely with each other, we are fortunate to have such a talented, inspiring group of Spongers! On the other hand, we are concerned to read that you feel management does not care about employee's career goals. We are actively engaging with our leaders throughout the org and working on new initiatives to encourage an environment where employees feel comfortable discussing their concerns. This includes new actions to ensure more one-on-one time with employees and their managers to increase dialogue about the employee's career path at Spongecell and beyond. We also continue to invest in benchmarking tools and review our compensation philosophies to evolve them with the market changes. Our dedication to employee happiness will remain at the top of our HR goals. Your review helps build awareness for our department and address areas where we can grow, so thank you very much.

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. We’re glad to hear you felt a sense of autonomy in your work, and ownership of the goals you executed on. Our engineering team specifically strives to provide the appropriate scope of influence across all levels. Sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience with all your colleagues here at Spongecell. Our hiring practices do not discriminate against personal relationships, unless there is a direct reporting structure involved. We are also an EOE, and take that very seriously in our recruiting efforts. Our annual performance management process is designed to identify areas of improvement and our HR team partners with Managers to ensure the proper training and development plans are put in place. It is important all employees are executing at the highest level possible to achieve our individual, team and company goals. Any plans for improvement are discussed with employees individually for privacy. We appreciate you addressing your concerns so we can drive stronger partnerships in future review cycles.

Pros

People you work with are great The senior management are nice and approachable

Cons

Senior management are nice people, but they often make decisions which everyone else pays for. High turn over in the last two years, out look of the company does not look good. Don't expect a bonus at the end of the year. HR is very practiced at talking around concerns and giving non-answers. Bait and switch health plans where they have a guy come in and present a nice insurance package, then they switch it out a month later with a obviously worse plan and tell you it's the same, even though the numbers are right in front of you.

Thanks for the review. We too think our people are a key element of our success. We recognize we need to get better at cohesive communication into the why and how decisions are made, and pushing that down through the org. It's unfortunate you felt HR was not more helpful in answering the tough questions. Our goal is to be a trusted partner across our employee base, though there may be times when a degree of sensitivity to topics must be preserved for the better of the business. Your call out on the last minute change to revert to our original benefit offering is not without merit. We made what felt like the right decision based on the large number of employees who voiced their concern that the new plans were too complicated and would be happier with the older designs back in place. The business is evolving and the company is changing. With that will come a degree of attrition. These are all great points for us to be mindful of in leading Spongecell into a productive and successful future.
