Pros

choosing your own hours, I had to write this to fit the word limit.

Cons

office staff have no care for you, you are a number on their system and not a name. good job to have on the side, thats if you are ok with feeling like less than a human.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that some of your time at Splendid wasn't as happy as it should have been. At Splendid we pride ourselves on how we take care of our staff and if we have fallen short on this front we welcome all feedback. Should you experience any issues on your jobs, we actively encourage our staff to give us feedback either anonymously online, by email or in person after each Event- we can then help to resolve any problems and ensure other staff don’t have the same experience! If you would like to discuss this any further, please do call Jo in the office and we’ll be happy to help. Many thanks, The Splendid Team

Pros

Fellow staff are in the same position as you so know what you're going through.

Cons

I did a total of 4 shifts with Splendid before I couldn't stand it any more. We were shouted at, spoken to awfully, given no say in what we were doing and managed by people who had not been there much longer than ourselves - simply because they were the longest people working there as their turnover is so high. If you think this is a good area of work for you I would look anywhere BUT Splendid. That is, unless you want to be screamed at by chefs, work unsociable hours, and spend stupid money travelling to places you have to work 3 hours to make up for.

Pros

You do meet celebrities and royalties and get to be at many famous locations and events. Most of the office workers are quite friendly and helpful, since they were once waiters before they got promoted. So they understand common problems. Some clients especially the small events like weddings are very enjoyable and have minimal stress. Plus they do treat you well, for example they will give us you food from the event or little goodie bags at the end. But splendid will priorities these events to people they like.

Cons

This was several years ago (so it might have been scrapped) but they created a rule that if you are more than 15mins late you be fined for £10-20. Which is appalling as it is. There usually transport disruptions at the weekends where most of the events take place and the location/building are sometimes difficult to access, so you have to plan more time for travel, plus they ask you to arrive 15mins early which you don’t get paid for. In your contract you have to stay an addtional hour if the client request it. Since this is an agency most of the time you will work with different main catering companies not the client directly. Where some will treat you poorly (especially the big events) and they always pay their own staff doing the exact same job as you more money. If you want to go into catering part/full time choose the main catering companies never agencies such Splendid. The owner of splendid (if you ever see him at an event) will treat his whole team like garbage. Best way of saying it without swearing. If you don’t work full time or they don’t like you, expect to be given the worst events to work at. Job availablilty are very low except during the holiday periods.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that some of your time at Splendid wasn't as happy as it should have been. Over the last couple of years we have updated our policy surrounding late arrivals and hour of flexibility, as well as having reviewed our pay structure – all active staff can find this on their homepage. We ask all staff to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure they are changed, checked in and ready to work at their booked time – it helps to reduce your risk of being late too! If you have any questions at all about the new policies or wish to discuss anything in more detail, please do give us a call. Many thanks, The Splendid Team
