Pros

The London office is in a good location

Cons

Awful place, staff are unmotivated, no training and development, poor pay and high staff turnover. Senior management also think that is they shout and scream enough they will get results. This included the humorous incident where a senior management responded to a poor engagement score by berating his team for not being motivated and telling them that it was not his job to motivate people.

Thank you for your feedback. After many years of successful growth in the UK and abroad, RICS is in a period of transition as we ensure we have the right structures, culture, and business practices to enable us to deliver our purpose of delivering confidence in the built and natural environment. With the scale and pace of disruption in society, many of our old ways of working absolutely have to change otherwise RICS (and through us, the profession we support and the consumers we protect) will be left behind. We do not shy away from focussing on excellence and evolving our business so that we can achieve our ambitions. Through a high support-high challenge culture, we are helping people transition to new roles and adjust to modern ways of working. We accept that this organisational change can be uncomfortable for some, and the honest answer is that some people have not performed at a satisfactory level and no longer work here, and others have decided they aren’t as excited about our huge plans for the future. We care deeply about our people – especially supporting them in a period of growth and change. We have a zero-tolerance approach towards bullying and harassment and it is vital that all of our employees feel able to voice concerns about any behaviour they don’t think is acceptable. Though you have now left RICS, I’d like to connect with you and talk more about your specific situation. Please feel free to contact me at feedback@rics.org Marina Kilcline, Chief People Officer

Most toxic place I've ever worked

Pros

Colleagues, some lovely people trying very hard and some just keeping their head down whilst afraid of losing their job

Cons

Culture is absolutely toxic. Its widely known that bullying is part of the culture and that it comes from the very top. HR do nothing, people who complain seem to disappear and I imagine they are paid off. COO is just a bully, picks on staff at lower levels and does absolutely nothing to promote other women in her team. This company seems to reel from disaster to disaster, bad decisions made by the CEO and his team. They do nothing for the profession in the UK although their subscription pretty much keeps RICS going. Execs seem to like wining and dining themselves and their friends, pre Covid first class flights and top hotels were the norm whilst everyone else had pay freeze after pay freeze. Career growth and learning here are a joke

Thank you for your feedback and insights about the colleagues you have worked with during your time at RICS. All feedback is welcome as we evolve as an organisation. The last year has been extremely challenging and we are still embedding new processes and ways of working with different teams. The recent employee Pulse survey that had a record response rate has helped us to identify focus areas that need improvement so we can move towards a culture of high support/high challenge and make changes. This is being followed up currently by listening sessions and manager workshops as to how we can move these insights to positive actions for all and address any concerns that exist. We know from the survey that the majority of our employees are supportive of the direction set and are encouraged by the new ways of working we are putting into place. We also recognise that it takes time to embed change and as individuals not everyone will always agree with the changes, but we are confident that we are making good progress.

Pros

I can’t think of any at this time

Cons

The organisation has gone downhill ever since they bought in the MD for UK&I. They don’t care about the royal charter and all it stands for, they only care about revenue. HR do not understand the meaning of confidential and discuss people’s personal business
