Pros

- There are some wonderful recently joined colleagues. - The location of the shared office space is nice and central in London, although you have to be mindful about speaking too loudly and not talking about work with them in earshot for confidential reasons. - It's easy enough to leave, as they don't uphold the strangely long notice period.

Cons

The great thing about Glassdoor is that QS can't alter the reviews. You can see from the first review to the most recent that the overarching theme is that reviews all highlight the toxicity of this place. My mental health has suffered from this place a lot, so much so that my friends and family have been asking if I'm okay and I've decided now is the time to speak up about my experience here, having seen so many people express how I've been feeling it's given me the motivation to do so. The fact that a toxic culture, micromanagement, manipulative and patronising environment is present here still feels generous. The replies to all the feedback really demonstrates the level of poison that flows through this company; there's no respect for people expressing their despair and pretty much every response talks about how our opinions are heard or taken into consideration but it really is just lip service. I don't need to say much more as those who are interested in joining here should really just look at all the reviews and responses and get that from there. There's a few things I want to cover that the company has claimed they don't do - which working here I can freely say isn't true. 1. Upon either 30 days after joining or passing probation, you speak with someone in HR for a "general chat" and they ask you to write a Glassdoor review - that is the definition of manipulative. Nobody who has just joined is really going to have a bad word to say about a new job, so they're using it to falsely boost their score and numbers. 2. Hybrid working is not truly hybrid, you have to be in the office for at least 3 days a week - but not with your own flexibility, you're told when you need to come in without actually seeing any benefit to why you're in there. That's because the leadership team use it as an opportunity to monitor what you're doing. Claiming collaboration is false. 3. There are ALWAYS vacancies - this has nothing to do with QS's goals, ambitions or plans to restructure or their plans to scale the company. The reason is because people leave faster than they join. The company wide stand ups always mysteriously have fewer and fewer numbers because departures are kept secret. This is particularly obvious with any candidate who is "senior", or in other words not inexperienced. Depending on the seniority of your role you have either between 3-9 months notice period, but I've never seen anyone stay for more than a few weeks after resigning. 4. Joining the company requires an invasive level of personal information, it's not a simple matter of signing a contract, you've got 4-5 different additional documents that you'd never need to fill anywhere else - which really doesn't set a positive precedence that doesn't feel like strangulation. 5. I've given up making friends here, I get to know someone and look forward to working with them, but then they leave. Considering it's a 45+ hour week (9-6pm mandatory hours, but really it's more like 8:30 - 7pm) it can get quite lonely and isolating. 6. I have nothing more to add about the criticism for the CEO and other senior leadership team that has already been mentioned extensively, other than it is incredibly true. You cannot trust any one of them. 7. The company benefits aren't special, legally, for all companies in the UK there are certain benefits that need to be provided. This includes: 28 days annual leave, health insurance, pension contribution and sick pay. The only extra "benefit" QS provides is a learning and development budget, but in truth can never be used because there is no time to use it - work deadlines are always unachievable without sacrificing your personal hours and drains you so much that you can't even really manage more than a few days off of leave without it being challenged. Interestingly they offer anniversary bonuses, but I suspect it's because nobody stays for more than 18 months that it's never needed to be paid out. To summarise, look elsewhere if you're a prospective employee - you are important, valuable and deserve a job that you feel like you can be yourself and upskill yourself. This place isn't right for you. If you're still working here, and decided to see how others feel because we can't speak up, you're not alone - everyone feels like this, so stand proud and leave.

We feel it's important to acknowledge reviews because people have taken time to write them and give us their perspectives and experiences. This deserves thanks. We value the input here, which we take away with every review in order to to find ways to continuously improve. Thank you for this feedback.

Pros

- Nice non-management colleagues - occasionally interesting work

Cons

The level of toxicity in this organisation is immeasurable. First jobbers/recent graduates are primarily targeted as new hires as they have no experience of what good company culture should be. Those with more experience or levels of seniority are quickly silenced, and skills or business process improvements are shockingly ignored. The CEO brainwashes employees, including some notable members of the SLT, into implementing a strong micro-management culture. Flexible working is not a possibility, and when you’re mandated to be in the office you’re not able to speak to one another if the CEO is also in. Any time spent talking is watched eagle eyed, which makes any form of collaboration impossible. QS uses generic terminology such as scale-up or organisational changes to justify rapid staff turnover rates. Simply put, if anyone wants to question or challenge a decision they are shown the door. The CEO is a cruel, narcissistic and manipulative individual who will patronise, gaslight and try to force you into a perspective which could be viewed as Stockholm syndrome. Yes the work can be interesting, and you can upskill fast (because of the resource problem and unachievable workload), but leave before you’re forced out - which for most colleagues is under a year.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience at QuantSpark. We are sorry to hear that you've had such a negative impression of the company culture and leadership. We take these concerns very seriously and appreciate you taking the time to provide this detailed feedback. We are troubled to hear your characterisation of the leadership team, and CEO as "cruel, narcissistic and manipulative." This is certainly not the culture or values we are striving to cultivate at QuantSpark. On the contrary, we have worked hard to foster a collaborative, transparent, and feedback-driven environment where all colleagues regardless of seniority, are encouraged to share their ideas and work together to drive continuous improvement. We have specifically implemented benefits, policies and practices to promote ownership, autonomy, and open communication. Our recent shift to a hybrid work model, with a requirement to work two days per week from the office, is designed to enable greater collaboration and team building, not to enforce micromanagement. Team members at all levels are regularly invited to provide input on business decisions, and we actively celebrate those who identify process improvements or innovative solutions. You're right that we do have some junior talent on the team, we firmly believe in nurturing and developing the next generation of leaders. At the same time, we've also brought on more experienced hires to help guide that process. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone, regardless of seniority, feels heard and empowered to contribute. We are going through an important transition as we work to professionalise and scale the organisation, and we know that can be challenging for some who have experienced a significant shift from the more informal culture that comes with being a smaller team. For those who embrace this transition, there are excellent opportunities for career progression, great benefits, and a supportive team environment. Thank you again for your feedback. It's only by hearing diverse perspectives that we can continue to evolve and become the kind of organisation we aspire to be.

Pros

Surrounded by highly skilled professionals

Cons

I'm having a very disappointing experience working here. The management is chaotic and disorganised, leaving employees with unclear directions and expectations. The workload is overwhelming, with long hours being the norm rather than the exception, and no real support for work-life balance. The CEO’s leadership style is extremely autocratic, and there’s little to no room for employee input or feedback. Instead of fostering collaboration, it feels like a top-down, command-and-control environment where decisions are made without consideration of the impact on staff. Unfortunately, this has led to a toxic work atmosphere where people are burned out and morale is consistently low. If you're looking for a place that values its employees and respects their time, this may not be the right fit.

Thank you for sharing your perspective with us. We appreciate your opinion, and we acknowledge that interpretations of leadership styles can be highly personal. What some may perceive as direct and clear leadership can, at times, be interpreted in multiple ways by individuals based on their own personal expectations. We recognise that different individuals have varying preferences regarding leadership communication, and we continually strive to be transparent and supportive in our approach. At QuantSpark, we provide ample opportunities for input and feedback through one-on-one meetings, internal forums, focus groups, and weekly updates. We also offer the option to share feedback anonymously through pulse surveys to ensure everyone’s voice is heard. We genuinely value the ideas and concerns of our team, and we always make decisions with both our staff and the business in mind. We recognise that balancing both of these is essential; decisions driven solely by the needs of the staff or the business can place the company—and its most valuable asset, our people—at risk. We work to strike a healthy balance in decision-making that prioritises the long-term success and well-being of both. Regarding the term "toxic," we believe it’s often emotionally charged and overused, especially when discussing unaligned workplace dynamics. We understand that different individuals may experience the work environment differently, but we aim to address concerns constructively and provide a supportive atmosphere for everyone. Our wellbeing check-ins, robust health benefits, social activity balance, hybrid policy and reasonable project utilisation planning (which are often lower than many consulting and tech firms) are part of our commitment to supporting our team's health and success. We are always looking for ways to improve and create a work environment where everyone can thrive. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
