      Pros

      Well Organized, Purpose-driven, fun to be around and plenty of opportunity to network.

      Cons

      It is volunteer-based, so there is a strain on time and finances. The PTL community is very generous.

      Pros

      It was all volunteer. Great networking. Interesting events. Great people. Good on resume. Fun.

      Cons

      Being on the board was frustrating because nothing was happening and it is hard to get volunteers to give their time especially if their ideas get shot down. (Other non-board positions don't have this issue.) And you don't get paid, obviously, but that's what volunteer is, so not really a con.
