Pros

Colleagues and peers at the individual contributor level are incredible, inspiring, intelligent, and humble. The majority of the people at PA are super kind, well meaning and work hard. There is a lot of people who are overqualified and eager to grow and expand their skills. My colleagues were critical in my journey towards self improvement.

Cons

1. The favoritism is real. It is almost laughable how differently people are treated from individual to individual. If you are well liked by a handful of people who I would say operate as tyrants, then you are good to go. If those couple of people don’t like you for whatever arbitrary reason they’ve chosen, you are not going to grow or be treated as someone of value. It is really wrong to play with people’s careers like that. 2. The micromanagement is debilitating at times. We are all professionals, so to treat people like children and micromanage every aspect of their life is not the right strategy to achieve a happy workforce. Everyone is responsible enough to work unsupervised and freely, without feeling like there is always someone hovering over them questioning every decision. 3. Pay is actually not on par with the market at all. A Senior Analyst goes for about $100K minimum but PA wants to continue to pay low wages. In fact, they are so unwilling to pay people what they’re worth that they’ve prioritized staffing the offshore office in India, instead of investing in resources for the US side of the business. 4. Shady/underhanded stuff is going on in the background constantly. People who refer employees don’t get their referral bonuses, others have their bonuses cut based on absolutely zero factual evidence. Everyone who is an upper level manager or above is incredibly willing to look the other way when sketchy things are going on because they don’t want to be the ones on the chopping block. 5. You will have to do two peoples jobs for the price of one because the company is so understaffed, unable to retain talent, and incapable of placing itself in an attractive enough light to attract new talent. 6. They will sell you dreams during your interview. Don’t fall for it. They say things like, we promote from within, but that is not the case. The company heavily relies on outside hires, despite having a vast pool of internal talent willing and able to move up in the company. 7. You can do so much better. I know you can. The dollars you’ll make here are not worth the emotional turmoil of dealing with these people, I promise.

Pros

H1B filing for international students

Cons

1. I was with PA for over 3years and the growth is almost none. On top of that they pay you the industry minimum 2. Upper management believes in micro managing everyone. Employees were literally forced to work from office during the COVID times even when the positive cases were peaking everyday at work 3. Toxic culture where employees mental or physical health means nothing to them 4. It's all about being favorites to the upper management. Or else you can't grow in this company 5. Pretty much the entire company works on just Excel. They are not at all technology friendly and being a Senior Analyst it was one of the biggest mistakes I did. If you are someone who have technological background don't even think of joining them 6. Don't even an HR department 7. No amenities (No Gym or recreational areas) The list just goes on...

Pros

1) Some of the people you'll work with become close friends and colleagues. You can learn a lot from those peers. 2) The company pays decently well, though perhaps slightly below market rate now considering inflation. 3) Great health benefits. One person who I won't name negotiated fantastic medical/vision/dental coverage and didn't get the credit they deserved for being the hero of us all.

Cons

1) Leadership doesn't listen to employees. During the first half of the pandemic, we were all remote. During the latter half of the pandemic, it was as if COVID didn't exist anymore and everyone was expected to come back into the office full time. Despite the company performing stunningly well while working remotely, leadership gave BS reasons why everyone was needed back in the office. Even after employees made informal and formal requests for more flexibility, requests were not heeded. At some point, the company granted one measly WFH day. Good for them, I guess. 2) Leadership often fails to communicate plans or visions for company growth. Because "what's happening" was not directly communicated by senior leadership, information around the office was often transmitted via the rumor mill. This bred a culture of whispers and hearsay. It also left us unclear on where the company was headed next and what career prospects lay ahead for those of us who stayed. 3) Senior leadership is, though perhaps unwittingly, full of yes-people. PA is a small company. When you run a small company, you have more or less full control over the strategic vision, direction, investments, and culture. You get to decide whether you will run a shadow dictatorship or a democracy within your organization. While on the surface level, PA operates as a democracy, peel back a few layers and you realize the senior leaders have little power to make their own decisions or offer a contrary opinion. Those who stick their neck out don't stick around.
