Pros

It's entirely a meritocracy and as such you're in control of your own destiny. It's an exciting industry, and one of the few that correctly claims to be fast-paced. You don't have to deal with office politics in the same way as other jobs. The training programme should give you most of the tools you need to be successful and it's very useful to be learning in a group environment as well.

Cons

Very long days at the start and really hard work for little immediate reward, but realistically everyone knows what they're getting themselves into, why they're there and the risk/rewards involved.

Pros

5 and 6 figure bonuses, lots of autonomy, casual work environment, play football in the middle of the day when all my mates are working, other traders and trainees are sound, detailed training program, 70 and 80% profit shares

Cons

Long hours, work life balance is definitely tilted towards work the first few years, the success rate of a trainee becoming a trader is between 40-60%

Thanks for the feedback. We will continue with all the awesome stuff we do away from the trading screens! The amazing aspect of the financial markets these days is that anyone can trade, from anywhere in the world, with an internet connection. The flip side of this is that the markets are extremely competitive. Some derivation of the ’10,000 hours’ rule definitely applies – the more hours you put in, the more your odds of success increase. Pros

Great support team, comfortable office, location

Cons

Can be a tough job if you don't reach the top 10% of performers. Long hours but in fairness they're broken up throughout the day

Thanks for sharing your feedback. Regarding training accounts, we’ve made changes to our Trainee Trader Program recently which mean accounts can be ‘cleared’ quicker.
