Engaged employer

Pros
As others mentioned, the people are generally nice. Diverse employees. Bonus every year. Good PTO. Tech capabilities good for current work from home situation.
Cons
Promotion opportunities are non-existent for current employees. The company has a referral program for openings, but it's commonly assumed that those who do get hired were referrals from upper management. There are several instances where managers hired had connections to Directors and above from previous jobs. If you don't know anyone in upper management, your chances are low, unless you meet the diversity criteria. The company has a commitment to diversity as of summer 2020. As a minority, it's already very diverse and accepting. What's not so great is that "diversity" for Pharmavite is hidden language you have to be the "right" type of diverse individual to be seriously considered for a position, even if you're highly qualified. People can figure it out based on the timing of the diversity program. Management is hit or miss. Some management choices are questionable and you'll scratch your head wondering why there's so many managers, directors, and VPs. Hope you get a good manager, and that one doesn't leave for greener pastures after bonus is distributed in March. Employee performance system that has been in effect for a year is rigged like a pyramid scheme to benefit higher levels. You're competing against your coworkers including your boss for that sliver of the raise pie. So instead of collaboration and healthy competition, it's got the reverse effect of unhealthy competition. Optics are important here if you want some of the crumbs. The reviewer's post about the CEO's political beliefs are true. Understandable he discussed the violence at the Capitol, but hypocritical that CEO never once talked about or condoned the violence during the summer. Instead we got comments on "social injustice". Lacking were comments about the destruction or any indication of sympathy for the cities and small businesses destroyed and burning. Hypocritical for "Do the right thing" and wanting "diversity". Cancel culture and "Go woke, Go broke" go two ways and is possible when vitamin buyers have a spectrum of political beliefs.
Pros
1- Culture - Pharmavite strives for have an inclusive culture that support current work life balance and an open communication environment. This is very refreshing to experience and I appreciate how one can be open to communicate process improvements. 2- Code of Conduct - "We exist to bring the gift of health to life". I personally align to work for a company that produces product with high quality and quality standard that i can feel proud to promote and sell its product. 3- Care Deeply and Do something - it is one of the four operating values and the company and its employees walk the talk. It is a company that support its employees well being and strives to supports its employees through perk programs, wellness days and FREE vitamins and supplements. 4- Compensation - Pharmavite offers a market rate compensation which can be better compared to bigger companies. This was a big selling point for me to choose this company over others. 5- Collaboration - everyone at this company is helpful and supportive of new ideas which embraces the company operating value ; "Run it like you own it". If the idea can support the overall team and business, upper management is open to bring light to that new project.
Cons
1- Room for growth- there is not a clear path for growth for certain departments, which can make it frustrating if one is thinking in a long term career path. 2- Limited processes - Some department have more robust process than others and there is opportunity for all HQ department to align.
Pros
excluding leadership, a good group of people
Cons
revolving door for sneering leadership. Way to many levels of upper management
Pros
Directors and below care, many employees who are hard workers and really do want to make an impact in the company
Cons
Top down decision making, too many upper management positions, values not practiced, no career growth opportunities. Toxic work culture full of fear. I know of several employees who have gone to HR about upper management verbal abuse, only to be retaliated again with PIPs. Those who went through this were eventually forced out. Divisive CEO whose politics is blatantly obvious to the employees, and will pick and choose who and what to support based on his political leanings.
Pros
You’ll get to work alongside some really good people (until they get demoralized and inevitably leave or get fired). Also working for the #1 Vitamin brand looks good on your resume.
Cons
High performers are taken for granted and will eventually burn out. Although pay is competitive for what your title is, it falls short of what will be asked of you. The executive team, HR, and most of upper & middle management are completely out of touch and/or unconcerned about the dismal morale that most people are experiencing there. If you’re considering joining Pharmavite, especially at West Hills, expect to be overworked and under-recognized...and know that you’ll most likely have to leave the company if you ever want to advance in your career. Rarely do people get promoted from within despite the award winning Vital Leadership program that HR has instituted. It's a great program, but management doesn't apply it as intended. Over the last couple years, I conveyed to management and HR on multiple occasions that several people on my team (myself included) had been working above and beyond our job descriptions for far too long and that it was unsustainable...sadly no action was ever taken, so it forced my hand to look elsewhere and leave. Also, be aware that there are 50 years worth of self imposed processes that slow everything down. And because there has been so much turnover in the last year, nobody knows how any of it works. The chaos will only get worse in the coming years due to the new over-complicated PLM software they’re implementing. And if you’re looking for a marketing position, know that decisions are made based on fear in that department. The CMO and CEO have both instilled so much fear over the last couple years that everyone is deathly afraid of how they’ll react to anything and everything. It’s really sad...I never imagined writing a review like this. I had such high hopes when I joined Pharmavite, but it was a painful place to work, particularly since mid 2019...which is saying a lot considering how well the company has done during Covid.
Pros
Great coworkers, benefits reasonable, experience to move on, free vitamins every month
Cons
-Top down management without consultation from other groups and lower level employees. A good example of this is the move to an email archive for emails older than 3 months. No advanced warning from IT so that users could plan for this. Decisions made without understanding the nature of users' work and needs, especially remotely. The impact of this decision caused major inefficiencies, but nobody in upper management cares. -Limited advancement internally. Prefers external candidates. External candidates hired & moving from out of state use Pharmavite as a stepping stone to get another job in Los Angeles. -High turnover, especially in Marketing. Echoing other reviewers about Marketing turnover every 1-2 years. -If you are not subservient to management, expect a PIP. The company says to challenge ideas, but it doesn't practice what it preaches. -There are managers who have have been at the company for years and had multiple complaints from employees under them. The managers stay, the employees either leave or get fired. Talking to HR will just lead to a PIP and a reason for them to fire you. -CEO preaches "diversity" but is politically far-left, with moderates and conservatives not feeling welcomed. CEO follows the wokeness of other companies which is questionable. Lacks authenticity and comes across as virtue signaling. -Helpdesk is external non-employee and of no help. No incentive to help users and are looking to close a ticket.
Pros
Good product Well know brand name People are nice
Cons
Upper management turnover was high Japanese culture limit’s flexibility
Pros
Health and wellness industry is interesting and a good cause. Some smart people in certain departments.
Cons
No real CEO. Upper management is completely new and from all different companies like P&G and Kellogg so everyone wants to do things differently. No culture.
