Promotion opportunities are non-existent for current employees. The company has a referral program for openings, but it's commonly assumed that those who do get hired were referrals from upper management. There are several instances where managers hired had connections to Directors and above from previous jobs. If you don't know anyone in upper management, your chances are low, unless you meet the diversity criteria.
The company has a commitment to diversity as of summer 2020. As a minority, it's already very diverse and accepting. What's not so great is that "diversity" for Pharmavite is hidden language you have to be the "right" type of diverse individual to be seriously considered for a position, even if you're highly qualified. People can figure it out based on the timing of the diversity program.
Management is hit or miss. Some management choices are questionable and you'll scratch your head wondering why there's so many managers, directors, and VPs. Hope you get a good manager, and that one doesn't leave for greener pastures after bonus is distributed in March. Employee performance system that has been in effect for a year is rigged like a pyramid scheme to benefit higher levels. You're competing against your coworkers including your boss for that sliver of the raise pie. So instead of collaboration and healthy competition, it's got the reverse effect of unhealthy competition. Optics are important here if you want some of the crumbs.
The reviewer's post about the CEO's political beliefs are true. Understandable he discussed the violence at the Capitol, but hypocritical that CEO never once talked about or condoned the violence during the summer. Instead we got comments on "social injustice". Lacking were comments about the destruction or any indication of sympathy for the cities and small businesses destroyed and burning. Hypocritical for "Do the right thing" and wanting "diversity". Cancel culture and "Go woke, Go broke" go two ways and is possible when vitamin buyers have a spectrum of political beliefs.
