Pros

Outstanding Benefits and working with animals

Cons

Poorly managed, high turnover, hostile work environment, discriminates against people with disabilities, a lot of young employees with no work ethic, too much gossip, lack of structure, managers are lazy and don't care. This place is full of drama. Very risky to work here.

A shelter with a lot of potential

Pros

People who work at the shelter care about the animals. There is enough funding to do a little more than the other local shelters, so visually it's more appealing to visitors. The diversity of services provided to the community are high, from behavior training, adoptions, spay neuter, to licensing, etc.

Cons

It's a political environment with an obvious divide between administrators and those below. There is poor communication between the two, especially when it comes to implementing new programs. The most knowledgable individuals are often not asked for their input. HR is the worst I've ever seen. They constantly ignore employees and make mistakes on payroll. Workers who are lazy continue to be employed and hard-workers that open their mouths are fired. There is a high turn-over rate and employees are underpaid.

Pros

Some of the best reason to work for this organization is their dedication to provide the best animal care possible and to develop low cost public programs for their surrounding areas. PHS & SPCA also works with other agencies to place pets into their forever homes and to rehabilitate wild life and relocate when possible. As an employee PHS & SPCA provided stable employment with benefits and a opportunity to learn more about animals.

Cons

It was emotional and challenging to work in a frequent turnover environment. Also it was
