Pros

1. Staff discount? tbh many products are always on hold you can't use the discount at all, I mean what's point of working as a staff??? 2. No personal KPI stress, that's it.

Cons

So many cons 1. Underpaid, 40 hours a week, you will always ended up working extra hours without getting extra pay, they say in lieu time, but you will never get chance to get your time back. 2. £27k for a supervisor is not enough at all, the difference between assistant manager and supervisor is very vague. I will say they are basically the same job, but ASM get more pay £29k a year, and have Fri and Sat off, which is ridiculous, Supervisor should get Fri and Sat off as these two days are usually busy, manager likes to sit back and make supervisor to in charge of the day most of time. 3. Management team are horrible, to all the store I've covered are mostly the same management vibe, the manager will try to do less and give the tasks they don't want to do to the ASM, and ASM will do the same to the Supervisor. Management team love to judge people behind their back, this is not "be kind " at all. 4. Management likes to change your shift time without letting you know, they make the rota which is easier for them, avoiding closing shifts etc. 5. This is 2026, the management is still using spreadsheet on excel to make rota. Oliver Bonas earn so much each year, why can't you invest more your system rather than spend so much on buying recycled polyester for your clothes? 6. Till system is the most difficult system I've used. Been worked for so many retailers, OB is the most out of dated company using difficult till system, by the end of day you have to fill in how much you earn by means of transaction, like Mastercard, Amex. It's 2026, who does that!??? Waste of time and paper. 7. This is the worst environmental-friendly company I've worked with. Everything print out in papers, their VM pack and the amount of time you have to update your rota, you print out a new version of rota! with colour! Waste of the ink and papers, the company has money yeah right, but use your money in some good ways, like invest in your system, and py people more!!!! 8, Senior management from Area manager is stressful and demotivating, they only care about money, not human.

Pros

It all depends on what store you work in, overall the Job is very easy to navigate as it is basic customer service with added roles here and there. The wrapping up gifts and the easy going nature of the store is the reason why I started working here and have stayed for a long time, you also get to meet other team members who are in the same boat as you and could end up finding really amazing friends.

Cons

Management. There is a high turnover rate for managers regardless of which store, unfortunately the location i work at has such a high turnover rate that staff are regularly having to extra roles that shouldn't be required of them to do. Environment. The environment most of the time is positive but that also depends on your manager and area manager as that makes or breaks the team ambiance. I've had issues with multiple managers being on a power trip and constantly micromanaging even if you have worked there longer than those managers. Pay. The pay is not worth it at all, unless you work 30 hours or more then you can't really save up a good amount but unfortunately this includes a lot of other retail companies too. It also depends on which location you work as hourly rates differs based on that too. You have to prepared to have days where you stare at a wall or pretend to look busy as it is so incredibly quiet and if you have no tasks on that day then it becomes extremely repetitive and boring.
