Pros

Consistent miles, while OTR, I average conservatively 2800 miles weekly. No BS, if you move quick and stay on the road longer than 3 weeks, you could see that rise to 3100. Good, mostly experienced dispatchers, super easy to work with and great with meeting hometime. Equipment is nice and kept up pretty well, some terminal shops are better and quicker than others but it's rare that I'm down and not running bc of truck. Includes DirecTV and SiriusXM, OTR trucks are full sleepers and have Cummins x15 Efficiency engines, others have a paccar one. Company culture, this is the odd trucking company where most drivers feel content being here, even the ones who get poor miles. Many drivers who leave, desire to return and if they were productive, are welcomed back warmly. I'm a rehire and I do better than I did before I left because I work harder now and they respond by not letting me sit waiting for loads. Excellent training, if you are without a CDL and you want to get one at a good company, here's your one stop shop. I'm in my second year driving, I'm home each weekend yet I will still gross ~$65000. It'd be even higher should I stay out on the road weeks at a time.

Cons

Few to list, the paper system is a bit of a drag but hard to avoid in trucking. Because of their fuel system it's not the easiest to rack up points with one place while meeting their suggestions but they compensate for it. If you only stay out 3 weeks at a time, you better tone down your mileage expectation to more like 2400-2500 miles per week and go on their straight pay payment method instead of per diem. Like I said, short list

Pros

The training was excellent to get a CDL license, at least in Cartersville, Ga. Everyone seems to be pretty positive. If you are AWAY from a terminal and your truck is in need of an emergency, you will get taken care of in a timely manner.

Cons

Hometime propaganda. No mechanics on the weekend at terminals. Lots of bad addresses and the name of the company you deliver to is usually not accurate. No more Blue Beacon, and you must use Heartland terminals to wash truck which means rainwater probably cleaned more effectively.

Pros

Training program is a great program.

Cons

Everything, what it once was in now a hollowed out shell taken over by individuals who appear to hate their drivers. Not only are they not concerned about their drivers they actually act like they're trying to make you quit on a daily basis. If you'd like to find out just how bad it's gotten since heartland express bought them out just go ahead. It'll most definitely be much worse than it is right now by the time you get there even if you hurry up and do it today. You've been warned, it's not what it used to be and you'll make very little and they'll try to steal that from you. Don't go by what millis transfer used to be it is no more.

Pros

Good training, nice well kept equipment, has guaranteed pay, pays weekly, 24 hr. dispatch, will get you home if need be.

Cons

Don't get alot of miles, guaranteed pay is low, pay per mile is low, you're just a replaceable driver to them.

Pros

Truck driver training Southeast regional route

Cons

Every dispatcher is not created equal. Get a good one and you will thrive. Get a bad one and she can make life miserable

Pros

Most of the time, they will try to get you home for the weekend or at least home with two full days off. Trucks come with bunk heaters, inverters, TVs and a small fridge. Newer Kenworths have auto start CDL training provided at in-house institute. Otr 21 day out, regional 5 days out.

Cons

Good luck making more than 1500 miles a week as a southeast regional driver. You will do a lot of sitting. Went from running 1800-2200 miles a week through the summer to struggling to break 1500 miles from about October to January. Otherwise, I lived on protection pay of 880 a week before taxes. I blame the owners, Heartland Express. Trailers can be rough but I don't blame the techs, I blame the drivers for not doing there part in reporting damage or other service issues. Size differences in trucks. If you're otr, you get a typical high rise sleeper if you're regional, you practically get half a sleeper and a pull out drawer as a fridge instead of a typical mini fridge. Fuel solution once routed me to truck stops within a regional range. Before I quit, fuel solutions would only route me to the Heartland terminal in Atlanta or the Millis terminal in Cartersville regardless if I'm only 50 miles away or 187 miles away with 2/8-3/8 of a fuel left. Forgot to mention the regional trucks have roughly half the fuel capacity as the otr trucks.
