Lessonly has an employee rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars, based on 55 company reviews on Glassdoor which indicates that most employees have an excellent working experience there. The Lessonly employee rating is 22% above average for employers within the Information Technology industry (3.9 stars).
I want to preface this by saying that Lessonly is a great company to work for. However, every company has problems they need to address and putting five stars on everything would be tantamount to me lying. I want to be as honest as possible in this review.
- There's some very smart people to learn from. I learned more there than I did in my previous two jobs combined.
- Lessonly is involved in the community and Brighter Indy is a put their money where their mouth is initiative.
- The departments and teams at Lessonly are constantly adapting to meet customer and employee needs. You'll find people want to solve problems quickly.
- The people are very positive and insanely helpful.
- Upper management is always willing to lend an ear or connect you with people in their networks that could help.
Cons
I want to be clear that these cons are fixable.
- Getting a promotion felt like pulling teeth at times because I couldn't get a clear answer on what I needed to do to get to the next level. I can't read minds and I shouldn't be expected to come up with a rubric that you're going to grade me with.
- Diversity and inclusion initiatives are in that nascent stage where management doesn't make it a priority. If people feel like they don't belong, they can't Do Better Work. Don't use not knowing what to do as an excuse. There's plenty of people in the community that can help.
- Casual work environment
- Fun perks (weekly yoga, snacks, etc.)
- Great co-workers. Laid back, but very high performers.
- Excellent product with great growth
- Fantastic leadership team that communicates openly with employees
Cons
As a small, fast-growing company, change happens quickly and frequently and expectations are high. This could create stress for people who struggle to be flexible. For me personally, I have nothing bad to say about the company or environment.
