Pros

In its hay day, you could make a good income, and there were many opportunities for growth, and the company culture felt like it was invested in its people.

Cons

The company is a startup that is going broke. They are in the middle of a hiring freeze, they have cut employees salaries, they haven’t paid vendors in months and they struggle to pay their employees on time. If you are reading this and recently received an offer from Interior Define, it is because you are back filling a role from many of the people who have recently quit. My advice would be to find another company to work for, to avoid the rug being ripped from under you once they eventually lay off everyone or file for bankruptcy

Pros

I loved my direct team and the adjacent teams I worked with. Everyone was amazing, kind and hardworking. The company has good values and approaches work life balance in a fulfilling way. I loved the work I got to do.

Cons

CEO and upper level management preach transparency, but I was never told when I first started that ID was a still in start up mode financially, though we were opening stores like we were rolling in cash. (ID does not make money, simply relies on investor funds, and those funds were handled carelessly at the expense of employees). I am not a business expert but I think anyone with an ounce of intelligence could see the mistakes that were being made at the top. Grew way too fast way too quick, and created unrealistic and unattainable sales goals to which the blame for fell upon the employees. It was painful to see so many employees have to take the blow for mistakes made by the CEO and finance. Macro economy was always their blame which was was somewhat the case. Just sad and frustrating to watch so many people lose their jobs in a recession because of the carelessness of people with an abundance of money.

Pros

At time of employment, company had generous unlimited PTO, and pay is above average for the line of work.

Cons

Tremendous mishandling of the company from executives and management. Employees beg for information regarding the state of the company, and customer-facing employees are expected to face incredibly angry and upset customers without being armed with information about hugely delayed deliveries and refunds. You’re constantly yelled at by customers demanding refunds/information but cannot get any real information from upper management to tell people. The only defense employees have is to lie about delivery/refund estimates that are not based on any real information. As a customer experience associate, you have almost no tools whatsoever to actually resolve anything for a customer, besides to just send an empty apology email or wait on the phone until someone is finished yelling at you. Luckily (and sadly), the phones were eventually turned off to reach CX because it was clear that letting customers yell at defenseless employees with no information or resources was not benefitting anyone. Sadly, the people on the frontlines have suffered the most while doing everything possible to stop a sinking ship.
