Pros

Wages were average although were set by FMP Global before being acquired. Pension & some benefits were a nice perk. Paid sick leave up to 15 days. Some flexibility but manager depending and much less than they make out.

Cons

An incredibly understaffed team with lots of manager movement (usually down the scale rather than up) and very high staff turnover which is no doubt due to the chronic overwork. Breaks are impossible to take as the work is piled on high and deadlines just unmanageable. Staff are incredibly unhappy yet silenced and regarded as "negative". A ridiculous system in place to buddy up and cover work when someone is out sick (which is a constant) or on holiday which means staff regularly work over their allocated hours just to try to keep on top of client's emails. They encourage Giving Back Days yet it's impossible to ever take them with the workload. They say they value mental health yet put on the odd lunch time webinar (as if we had time to ever attend)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, although we are surprised and disappointed by your comments. When an acquisition joins our family, we work closely with our business leaders to maintain a positive culture and make significant investments in our new team members when we invite them to join our competitive benefits package and extensive training, development and progression opportunities. We also include our acquisitions in our annual salary review each autumn, to achieve a pay parity with the rest of the IRIS group. We are delighted to have also welcomed 13 new hires into our International Payroll Services within the last year, expanding our team to 34. We care deeply about our employee wellbeing and mental health and are extremely proud to have been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing. We signpost and provide a range of physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, such as our incredible Mental Health First Aiders, our Belonging Champions, daily wellbeing nudges, our weekly workplace support group, company-funded access to talking therapies, wellbeing apps, an Employee Assistance Program, and Mindfulness training. We also have a dedicated Wellbeing intranet page where employee can access all of these resources and find specific and tailored support. We are proud to encourage employees to share their feedback with us through our engagement survey tool, Peakon, which gives everyone the opportunity to send suggestions directly to managers to support planning and prioritising workloads effectively. We are delighted that our engagement score for International Payroll Services is at the true benchmark and has consistently been improving over time. We are also scoring high on ‘Management Support’, ‘Organisational Fit’, and ‘Goal Setting’ as drivers of engagement within the team. Our employees can also share their feedback with our 48 Employee Voice Ambassadors across the business, who support business improvements by listening to the team’s feedback and presenting their findings at monthly breakfast meetings with their Executive member and Heads of Function. We’re always looking for ways we can be the best we can be, and we would welcome any further suggestions. Please reach out to the HR team or email EmployeeFeedback@iris.co.uk. We wish you all the best in the future. Kind regards, the HR team

Pros

Used to be a great company to work for.

Cons

The way IRIS Software has treated its staff since the pandemic began is nothing short of shocking. I and 20+ others were culled from the business with no notice earlier this week in the form of a Microsoft Teams call. I had been with IRIS for over a decade and had been one of the top performers across my division for most of that period. Over time, the business has become less concerned with it's people and more concerned with pumping up the prices of their software and services. Customer retention and satisfaction is decreasing over time and the board is not doing anything about it. Customer's who are experiencing genuine issues with their business critical software are being actively ignored and their problems being left to fester. The new CSO, Chris Smith, was hired and gave a promise of honesty and openness upon his arrival. He then made an executive decision to end the business quarter 3 days early to preserve the business having to pay out as much commission. His version of honesty and openness was to let Managers cascade this decision down to sales and allow them to take the brunt of it rather than putting out a formal communication hisself. 22 members of staff have been left without a job this week while the business gloats about bringing new staff through the academy on social media. IRIS are so bothered about APPEARING to be a massive, caring company on social media that they're completely forgetting to live up to the expectation. Not only that but they are now pumping out fake 5 star reviews on Glass Door to cancel out the negative reviews. Do me a favour if you're reading this - order the reviews by 'Most Recent' and notice that 3 5 star reviews were published on 29th July, the day after a negative review was posted. Before that, two reviews had never been written on the same day. Do you think this is a coincidence? Absolutely not, it's IRIS Software doing something called damage limitation.

I am very sorry that you have been affected by the recent restructure in our Sales organisation and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Regrettably, we have recently had to consider small-scale redundancies due to the impact of Covid-19 and associated operational changes. The meeting you mention was simply the start of a full consultation period with each individual to consider alternative options, suggest other roles within IRIS, answer questions and provide suitable support. This consultation period is run over the course of weeks/months and only concludes once all other avenues have been considered. Whenever a redundancy is confirmed, we always fund outplacement support and frequently offer ex-gratia packages in addition to statutory pay to help them into their next chapter. We are always sorry to lose colleagues and friends and make every effort to treat every employee with the dignity and compassion they rightly deserve. The recent day-early quarter close was designed to support accurate forecasting and customer delivery experience (rather than to reduce payments!) and certainly didn’t impact the overall commission employees receive – all closed deals are always eligible for commission. There have been many changes within Sales to give everyone the best opportunities for success and we have done our upmost to share the benefits and been transparent about the impact of the changes on a regular basis. Throughout these changes, our Chief Sales Officer, held weekly ‘All Sales’ calls in addition to specific announcement calls to make sure that the changes were discussed and opportunities afforded to ask and receive answers to questions and make suggestions as part of the process. As a company of 1,500 employees, we recognise that employees will have different experiences of working at IRIS – this will naturally lead to a variety of views represented on platforms such as Glassdoor. We always encourage employees to provide us with honest feedback on an ongoing basis through a variety of channels (for example during our monthly company updates, dedicated employee feedback inbox and regular surveys), and Glassdoor is another avenue for such feedback. We aim to engage meaningfully with each Glassdoor review we receive (good and bad) and always encourage our reviewers to reach out to us directly so we can resolve any issues constructively through an open conversation, rather than the limited ‘review and one response’ available on Glassdoor. We would sincerely like to discuss your concerns in more detail so that we can help – please reach out to Stephanie.Kelly@iris.co.uk, our Chief People Officer, or Chris Smith, Chief Sales Officer, in complete confidence. Kind regards, the HR team

Pros

At least tea and coffee were free.

Cons

I recently concluded my tenure at IRIS and feel compelled to share my experience here on Glassdoor. While my time with the company had its moments, unfortunately, several concerning issues overshadowed the positives. Firstly, there seemed to be a noticeable lack of effective communication and receptiveness to employee concerns. Despite voicing my opinions and suggestions, I often felt that my input wasn't given the attention it deserved. This created a sense of frustration and disengagement within the team. Moreover, the circumstances surrounding my redundancy were perplexing. It appeared that my role was deemed redundant, despite evidence to the contrary. This raised questions regarding the legality and fairness of the decision-making process, leaving me feeling uncertain about the company's commitment to its employees' well-being. Furthermore, allegations against two managers deeply troubled me. It was disheartening to witness upper-management siding with the accused managers rather than prioritising the safety and dignity of the employees. Such actions undermine the trust and integrity of the workplace culture. Additionally, the CEO's visit to our office left much to be desired. While I anticipated an informative session about the company's vision and goals, it regrettably devolved into a monologue primarily focused on self-promotion. The lack of meaningful engagement and the patronising tone of the presentation were disappointing, to say the least.
