Pros

Stable company that treats customers well. That's about it.

Cons

Micromanaging grind with pay cuts every year! They want you to get EVERY customers phone number and email or your job is threatened. They value employees that send mass annoying emails over ones that actually sell. Every year they adjust the pay plan so you make less money for more work. You will work EVERY weekend, holiday and most nights. You will wait for hours in between customers due to loading the floor. But don't worry this time is useful for your manager to harass you for not getting an email address from the 89 year old woman that came in looking for a pink lamp. While your family and friends are enjoying a BBQ you will be working Memorial Day and being harassed for not getting enough customer emails even though you are outselling everyone. The following weekend you will miss your sons 8th birthday party and your daughters soccer game to wait 5 hours for a chance to talk to a customer who later buys based on your recommendation and email you sent them. Too bad they buy online and the company pays you zero commission even though they followed the link you were forced by management to provide in your email.

Pros

Great pay/competitive salary Good benefits Flexible hours (could work 7-4 through 9-6) Security in parking lot (Somewhat overpriced) restaurant downstairs

Cons

Too many cooks in the kitchen: I had to answer to three people in my department, plus requests from other departments, and everything was "priority". I only had one boss and nothing was filtered through that person. Management seemed out of touch with the morale of the department TERRIBLE communication between departments Most of upper management has been there 25+ years and not open to change/new ideas (although that wasn't the case in my department) Everything is reviewed by paper. Understandable for print, but not web. Not only is it wasteful but it's hard to meet deadlines when you're having to chase down stuff from people in other departments b/c they're out or not paying attention.

Pros

Five words huh? NO PROS

Cons

Management is not hired or promoted based on what but rather who they know. Old timers with knowledge and skills aren't appreciated and in fact encouraged not to share their thoughts and experiences from other company's. It's a commission based system but they stack the deck against you. Example. Protection bonus is paid on what you deliver with protection. I had a seventeen thousand dollar invoice deliver the next to last day of the month. My delivered percentage on protection would have exceeded their seven percent for a 30% pay rate on all delivered protection. However they will not pay you the protection bonus until the last item delivers. The warehouse could not deliver the clients chins cabinet top because it was damaged in THEIR distribution center. Guess what. This dropped me below 4% as they still counted the other merchandise they forced on my client. NO PROTECTION BONUS on a 70k delivered month. Did I also mention most of the merchandise they did deliver was scratched or damaged? On a seventeen thousand dollar sale?! Company doesn't care. Useless CEO who spouts corporate jibberish but honestly doesn't have any idea how day to day operation is for stores. Managers who couldn't sell themselves but pretend they can train others to. Just don't. I've worked for several furniture companies and after a year and a half with this one I wouldn't recommend a job with them to my worst enemy.
