Pros

A very promising unicorn in the travel industry. Comprised mostly of young people with a lot of energy and ideas. In general the company's vibe is very warm and enthusiastic. The compensation is also good compared to industry standards. Utilising a lot of technologies, most of them very popular in the industry so it is a great learning ground. We have frequent employee review cycles. Although the process has room for improvement, it gives opportunities to people who want to improve and grow to actually do so up to a certain level.

Cons

A lot of attitude from staff level employees. Asking a question about how to implement something you frequently get arrogant answers like "Why don't you just follow our conventions?" - Well if it was clearly documented, I wouldn't be asking, would I? The company supposedly has a strong feedback culture, just for the show. People get dismissive of the not-positive feedback they receive, attributing it to something being wrong on your end. Management is going backwards to 1970 and is pushing employees to work from the office again. And even discontinued one of the few benefits the company provides (the home office budget). There is some room for improvement regarding systems stability, but there is a lot of passion from people to fix things so I am very optimistic for the future.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your input. It's great to hear that you value the vibrant team spirit, competitive compensation, and growth opportunities we offer. These are core aspects of our culture that we take great pride in. We hear your concerns, particularly regarding the feedback culture and recent modifications to our remote work policy, as well as the adjustments to the home office equipment budget. We believe in the benefits of in-person interactions, which we view as crucial for fostering a stronger sense of connection and support among team members. Physical presence in the office can amplify our culture of motivation, minimize misunderstandings, and enable more straightforward and efficient communication. Concerning the changes to the home office equipment budget, office equipment will remain available through our Internal IT team. We also want to address your point regarding the handling of negative feedback. It is with genuine regret that we learn this has been part of your experience. Cultivating an environment where feedback is openly and constructively received is a key priority for us. Should there be a need, we actively encourage involving your manager, your HR representative, or ERG to aid in facilitating these important discussions. On top of that, sometimes a team-wide training can be a great way to address these issues. We are grateful for your insights and are keen on continuing this conversation. GetYourGuide

Pros

The culture kind of stands out to me. Everything is done in a very transparent way. Each person is valued and treated with respect and input is considered from anyone. Most engineers are very talented and have a great passion for their work. So even in a senior position I learn from my fellow coworkers regularly. Also there are many new areas to explore in case I want to grow in those with people willing to helping me to get where I want to go. It is very clear what is expected of one to be able to grow into higher positions. And regularly there are review cycles to assess where one stands, which are very fair.

Cons

The fairness on the review cycle requires quite some time spent from everyone and can be rather bothersome to some. There is always a lot of work to be done and that one could also do on the side which requires a bit of effort from each employee to make sure that they keep a good work/life balance.
