I have been working at Gartner full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Gartner is a fantastic environment for anyone with a no limits mindset..For those in Sales they offer an excellent "value based" sales training course. The culture is excellent with super collaboration where everyone wants you to succeed. From day one you are set up with the tools to be successful and can take ownership of your career by continued development.

    Cons

Extremely sales focused with high growth targets, be prepared to work hard. This also represents great opportunity.

I worked at Gartner full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You will be involved in conversations at a senior level and have get great understanding of challenges facing IT departments

    Cons

Gartner try to sell internally that they are a trust based sales organisation but towards the end of each quarter management acts like you are a conservatories sales organisation. They should hire and develop managers better. The RVP for Ireland has little management expereince and can be heard regularly shouting at her area managers who in turn apply the wrong type of pressure onto their account executives. The sales managers in Ireland are all new in role and even though numbers look ok they are clearly struggling at the people side of their roles. It is my understanding that over half of the sales team in Ireland are looking for roles outside at given points. I would still recommend to work there and get it on your CV but this is not an organisation where you will forge a long term career.

    Pros

A great place to work for ambitious high achievers who take ownership of their development and career. Superior training sets new hires up for success. Excellent development opportunities throughout career. Very collaborative environment. Uncapped OTE rewards high performers.

    Cons

There are periods of high intensity and high demand on time which does not suit everybody.

I have been working at Gartner full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Competent senior leadership that focuses on both people and the bottom line. There have been senior leadership changes in Gartner Consulting that have drastically improved staffing, professional development and other related processes. While there is a clear focus on the bottom line, there is the appreciation that consulting at its core is a people business and taking care of your people leads to better long term results. Pay is also competitive.

    Cons

There are growing pains as Gartner consulting has been a smaller part of Gartner and struggled to grow as fast as research, but there have been changes made for the better to fix them. Another con may be the lack of a vibrant office culture, as employees are distributed across the country and are often on client locations.

I worked at Gartner full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great place to start your career in sales Learn how to communicate with C Level Executives Develop transferable skills that will set you apart when you leave Gartner Learn Business strategy Benefits are great

    Cons

Quotas are not aligned to opportunity within for each AEs opportunity within their book of business/territory Many uncontrollables that will determine your success or failures Value prop is changing for supplier side of the business. It will be a few years until the product resonates with buyers. Your manager means everything to your success. Gartner hires from within and will promote based on a year of success and likeness. Not many leaders in the management position but more order takers. Not many sales tools to support your success

I have been working at Gartner full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I love the office. It is super modern with a cafeteria and gym on the bottom floors. The cafeteria is nice and has a variety of food options for everyone. I love the culture, you can tell they really want you to fall in love with working at Gartner. They have themed days and small activities to do so you can have a break at work. The people are great and are what truly makes me love this job. A plus is how they set up the program... you have a handful of people to help and support you. They want you to succeed and progress, they have one on one development,, and coaching.

    Cons

Going through some changes right now, but I don't have any other Cons

    Cons

It's a big company so sometimes things can be a bit bureaucratic, but with some patience, it's possible to leverage excellent enterprise-level resources which is a plus.
