I have been working at Gartner full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Gartner is a fantastic environment for anyone with a no limits mindset..For those in Sales they offer an excellent "value based" sales training course. The culture is excellent with super collaboration where everyone wants you to succeed. From day one you are set up with the tools to be successful and can take ownership of your career by continued development.

    Cons

Extremely sales focused with high growth targets, be prepared to work hard. This also represents great opportunity.

I worked at Gartner full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You will be involved in conversations at a senior level and have get great understanding of challenges facing IT departments

    Cons

Gartner try to sell internally that they are a trust based sales organisation but towards the end of each quarter management acts like you are a conservatories sales organisation. They should hire and develop managers better. The RVP for Ireland has little management expereince and can be heard regularly shouting at her area managers who in turn apply the wrong type of pressure onto their account executives. The... sales managers in Ireland are all new in role and even though numbers look ok they are clearly struggling at the people side of their roles. It is my understanding that over half of the sales team in Ireland are looking for roles outside at given points. I would still recommend to work there and get it on your CV but this is not an organisation where you will forge a long term career.

    Advice to Management

Focus on long term strategy and not to just sell on short term. And make it clear what people are earning as there is a huge gap in what some people are getting paid versus others.

I have been working at Gartner full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

A great place to work for ambitious high achievers who take ownership of their development and career. Superior training sets new hires up for success. Excellent development opportunities throughout career. Very collaborative environment. Uncapped OTE rewards high performers.

    Cons

There are periods of high intensity and high demand on time which does not suit everybody.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring top talent - it benefits everyone as new talent inspires all.

I have been working at Gartner full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The notoriety that the Gartner name carries makes it a great place to begin your career. The company culture (at least within the Irving office), is very young, fun, and provides a lot of flexibility. The PTO days are much better than most entry level roles. My favorite part about working at Gartner though, is the support that is consistently provided. Everyone wants you to succeed and is happy to make the time... to help you achieve your goals. There are some great people at this company.

    Cons

Since acquiring CEB, Gartner has undergone consistent changes as they integrate the Global Business Sales unit. Unfortunately management does not always do a great job at communicating these changes, sometimes leaving employees in a sort of limbo trying to figure out what these changes signify for their advancement. With such rapid growth, it has also left the employees in the sales development program unsure of... how many positions will actually be available once they graduate the program. A lot of your success is also determined by which individual contributor you are directly supporting. Not much opportunity for advancement if you don't want to move to the new Irving Sales Hub.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent. We know that change is the only constant, but leaving us in the dark is only making employees speculate and develop theories that might end up being worse than what is actually being discussed among management.

I have been working at Gartner full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Strong ethics and focus on serving clients - Collaborative environment with a lot of resources available to help close business. - Very intelligent analysts who are the core of the products and services - Structured processes which everyone follows to execute and serve clients - Company messaging is consistent YoY, comp plans stay consistent every year.

    Cons

    - Gartner has a hard time getting out of their own way when changes to products or services are requested as it takes years. Little flexibility outside of the box - All male leadership at the senior levels with the exception of the head of HR, lack of diversity above the manager level. - Unequal pay: New people are brought in at much higher levels of pay and long time employees are restricted to small increases YoY... even though they are being paid under market value.

Increase diversity at Sr leadership levels to show that Gartner is truly interested in a more diverse workforce

    Pros

    - Culture - Sales Focused Company - Great people to work with - Job flexibility

    Cons

    - No Profit Sharing at initial leadership levels - Internal Systems

    Advice to Management

Keep leading in the same manner, our recipe for consistent success has worked. Ideally leadership could have more incentives for compensation as others companies have.

    Pros

The people that you have the opportunity are some of the most brilliant minds that you can connect with.

    Cons

This is a very process-oriented organization which is great because you understand best practices for how things should be done. However, this presents little to no flexibility or autonomy for how work gets done
