1. Expect you to do whatever asked even if unsafe:
Examples,
Hanging steel in lightning and rainy conditions even when crane operator called it for weather
Climb 20 feet with no harness available and cut into 20 in poly pipe with a chainsaw
Weld in downpour
Worked multiple 24+ hour shifts including driving 9 hours from jobsite to jobsite (again employee handbook)
2. Been with the company for 2 years and took on more and more roles but never got a raise. Welding, equipment operator on 9 pieces of equipment, waterlines, general construction, fabrication, etc
3. The owner Changed the employee guide at his convenience. And owed me 28,000 dollars in mileage and hours while on the road for work (which use to be in the employee Guide but was changed and we were never given an answer as to why
4. Per diem is minimal, yes they pay for living (in pour conditions, we had mice and roaches when we moved in)
5. Owner Pat Mconnel doesn’t pay his contractors, 3 separate contractors had to threaten liens against company in Floresville
6. gravel company and concrete company not paid in union city to the point that started threatening me and other employees.
7. Hired for “general labor” at 25 an hour I ran 6+ types of equipment, did fabrication/welding help, scale setting, concrete work, pipe fitting, set conveyors, helped frame offices, hourly services on big equipment (not a mechanic) internet cables, All skilled labor jobs for terrible pay. Especially after the time I’ve put in with the company.
8. Worked 24+ followed by 5 hours off. Worked again 17 hours straight, then was given 4 hours off and expected to come back and work again. One employee voiced his concerns that he was tired and needed rest. He came back the following day and was fired for not coming back after the 4 hour break.
Received no plans and our jobs threatened on every task we do.
Overall , Absolutely pathetic leadership and the worst company I’ve ever worked for. Owner is selfish and doesn’t care one bit about his employees.
