Good Pay and Work/Life Balance...That's About It

Pros

At the management level, the pay is very good - but careful what you wish for (see below). Work/Life balance is also good. Some nice people, but...

Cons

The company culture is terrible...the technology roots (and brains) of this company are seated in the Netherlands, and the workforce there is comprised of arrogant, lazy "employees" who spend most of their time backstabbing or paying lip-service to their American colleagues, or they're on vacation (I use the term "employees" in quotes because they all work for the Dutch Works Council (similar to an American union) and firing them is nearly impossible). The Dutch have ZERO respect for US employees, including and especially the CEO (Kania), and it shows in their apathy for the work and their 3 months a year vacation time. Time and again, I saw unqualified employees "promoted" into positions because they kissed a lot of you-know-what at the Sr. VP level, so, many long-tenured, knowledgeable employees would report to clueless idiots. Also, this company has a reputation of getting rid of people that make too much money. If you make six figures based on your experience, contribution to company success, the value that you bring - and you're NOT at the VP level - you're automatically a target, so watch out.

Pros

Stock is soaring. Record profits quarter after quarter. Little turnover, big RIF's haven't happened in years, little ones are silent and sudden Interesting technology Some good groups to work in. Career is as good as your manager Company will be around for a long time to come.

Cons

We are told to take time to do things right, yet consistently firefighters are rewarded and those doing what we are suppose to are passed over for raises Promotions are possible. Don't expect anything more than a title, almost nobody gets a salary bump, just more responsibilities and often are poorly reviewed by the group they exit. Headquarters in US; but Europe dictates everything. See other reviews Record profits all the time, lucky to get 2% raise and told employees are the greatest asset Lower management often lies and there is no accountability Lots of lower management have created empires that serve individual values, not their function. Don't question an empire or a cherished. Actually told that to be a meets employee I need to consistently be there 8 am till 6 and 7 pm and weekends like everyone else, otherwise I'm not meeting the corporate published value statement Open door doesn't exist. Speak out and your career is over
