Pros

None! I can honestly say I was so miserable going to work every day there. Do not work here. Worst job ever!

Cons

Long hours. Expect you to put in a lot of hours on your personal time. Demeaning. Did not pay as promised and nothing was really as promised. Not a "family" environment as they said. Other staff members and managers spoke down to you and made you feel like nothing you did was right. Worst working experience. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. They do not give people chances and are border-lining on breaking EEOC laws

Pros

Get to meet many different people since there is such high turnover. Gain good sales experience if you can last a year, definitely helps with finding a better job in the future.

Cons

For such a small office, there is such high turnover within the internal staff where nearly everyone leaves on bad terms. It is a family owned business so there is no HR department, which this company DESPERATELY needs. The commission structure is unstable and salary base is very low compared to other local competitors. There is mistrust between employees and management and A LOT of drama in the office. There is no room for advancement within this company no matter how many times the family tells you there is. Employees are treated like a number that can easily be replaced. The training process, well actually lack there of, consists of being thrown into the work right away (probably because someone just got fired or quit) and if you can't keep up then you are useless to them. As for goals of the office, well I like to call them unrealistic expectations, because that is what they are. Express is a corporation and has set goals and incentives for the franchises, while this Parsippany office sets its own goals, which are very high and in the couple years I was there the goals was never reached. They set goals without explaining HOW to accomplish them. It is clear the current manager does not know how to run an office, for there is no leadership or support from management. Since there is no loyalty, trust or growth no matter how much the management says that there is, it’s unbelievable how they are still in business. My advice, this is not a place to grow your career. It is good for short-term experience. However, you can also gain that at another staffing company in the same town as well. You can bust your butt every day for these people but it will never be good enough and they will end up slicing your commission structure anyway.

Pros

Front desk receptionist was friendly, office was clean

Cons

Everything. Short Story: They advertised for a job that was non-existent. (they actually admitted to this) They read my requirements, knew that the position that they actually intended to offer me was no where close to meeting my requirements or my skill set and called me to interview anyway. Longer Version: I found and applied for a position as an administrative assistant for legal offices. The job description read "Must be good with Excel, Outlook, Word, WordPerfect and have great typing skills. This position may require working for a single lawyer or many lawyers. One year of experience preferred. Pay between $12 and $18 an hour depending on experience." This was for a full time, permanent position and frankly I was 1000% qualified for this. I applied and received confirmation back with the exact wording: "You have just applied for this job." Below that was the title and description of the job I had applied for. I received a phone call the next day from Express Employment and they advised that they had received my application and would like me to come in for an interview. I drove to their nearest office which is 50 minutes from my home (during a snowstorm) for the interview. When I arrived they immediately began having me sign paperwork for taxes, consent to drug screen, work agreement, etc. While I'm signing the 'interviewer' was explaining the job would be part time, it would only pay up to $10 an hour and was short term. It sounded nothing like the job I had applied for so I pulled out a printout of the job description (from their job posting) and stated I was confused as the job I had applied to was for an Administrative Assistant for a legal firm. She then told me that the ad I had applied to was their 'standard, frequently run posting' and that they currently had no openings for anything matching the job they posted. I said 'So this job I applied to isn't legit?" The interviewer was obviously affronted by this and said that it was legit. So I asked to be interviewed for the job that they advertised and that I applied for. She said I couldn't be interviewed for that position because they had no job open for the advertisement that I applied to. Confused much?? Me too The interviewer told me that they sometimes had legal firms contact them for Administrative Assistants so they frequently run the ads just in case. Then she told me that I was not qualified for any of the positions that they'd ever had to work in a legal office. I told her that her 'legit' ad was for a legal office and I matched and exceeded all of the qualifications on their ad. I asked them to pull my application and delete my history with them. I will not be associated with a company that thinks it is fun or okay to contact someone that is unemployed, in need of security and a steady income and then call them in to interview under false pretenses. I don't care if every other job they ever advertise is 100% legit and starts at a million dollars a year - they are tainted and unreliable in my book and there are too many other honest companies out there I could work with instead. I do not know if what they did is legal or not legal but I can guarantee that is highly immoral and a little mean. RUN don't walk away from this 'staffing agency'.
