Pros

Cons

Everything. Short Story: They advertised for a job that was non-existent. (they actually admitted to this) They read my requirements, knew that the position that they actually intended to offer me was no where close to meeting my requirements or my skill set and called me to interview anyway. Longer Version: I found and applied for a position as an administrative assistant for legal offices. The job description read "Must be good with Excel, Outlook, Word, WordPerfect and have great typing skills. This position may require working for a single lawyer or many lawyers. One year of experience preferred. Pay between $12 and $18 an hour depending on experience." This was for a full time, permanent position and frankly I was 1000% qualified for this. I applied and received confirmation back with the exact wording: "You have just applied for this job." Below that was the title and description of the job I had applied for. I received a phone call the next day from Express Employment and they advised that they had received my application and would like me to come in for an interview. I drove to their nearest office which is 50 minutes from my home (during a snowstorm) for the interview. When I arrived they immediately began having me sign paperwork for taxes, consent to drug screen, work agreement, etc. While I'm signing the 'interviewer' was explaining the job would be part time, it would only pay up to $10 an hour and was short term. It sounded nothing like the job I had applied for so I pulled out a printout of the job description (from their job posting) and stated I was confused as the job I had applied to was for an Administrative Assistant for a legal firm. She then told me that the ad I had applied to was their 'standard, frequently run posting' and that they currently had no openings for anything matching the job they posted. I said 'So this job I applied to isn't legit?" The interviewer was obviously affronted by this and said that it was legit. So I asked to be interviewed for the job that they advertised and that I applied for. She said I couldn't be interviewed for that position because they had no job open for the advertisement that I applied to. Confused much?? Me too The interviewer told me that they sometimes had legal firms contact them for Administrative Assistants so they frequently run the ads just in case. Then she told me that I was not qualified for any of the positions that they'd ever had to work in a legal office. I told her that her 'legit' ad was for a legal office and I matched and exceeded all of the qualifications on their ad. I asked them to pull my application and delete my history with them. I will not be associated with a company that thinks it is fun or okay to contact someone that is unemployed, in need of security and a steady income and then call them in to interview under false pretenses. I don't care if every other job they ever advertise is 100% legit and starts at a million dollars a year - they are tainted and unreliable in my book and there are too many other honest companies out there I could work with instead. I do not know if what they did is legal or not legal but I can guarantee that is highly immoral and a little mean. RUN don't walk away from this 'staffing agency'.

Pros

I have a hard time saying anything good about this place. If I had to say something, there was room to grow into different positions.

Cons

Small office space Toxic workplace Gossiping constantly about one another When I was given something to do with socials, I was told Im not doing enough for recruiting. Would switch to solely focus on recruiting and then told Im not doing enough for socials. I was always put in a lose lose situation with what was expected of me in my job. I was threatened over a parking space. When I tried talking to management I was dismissed. Unprofessionalism, coworkers would openly talk bad about candidates. With a small office space everyone can hear including people who came into interview. Highly disorganized I could go on and on...
