Teams tend to be cooperative rather than competitive (with each other). The atmosphere is congenial and professional. The benefits are amazing. The company cares for its employees on a holistic level. Continuing professional development is encouraged. It is a place where people want to stay. The company is striving to have an employee base that represents its customer base. Diversity and inclusion is an important aspect of life here.

Cons

Big companies don't innovate as quickly as small ones. Necessary bureaucracy slows development. If you are an innovator, you may find the large corporate machine moves too slowly for your liking.

Great work environment in the lab. Had a few tough years starting it all but it was an amazing learning experience and J&J is a company I truly appreciate and miss. If you wish to go places in the company, they will make it happen.

Benefits and salary are competitive. Good quality system and manufacturing processes definition. Mature lean and automated processes. Excellent talent development opportunities - able to hold 7 different roles with the company with increasing responsibilities.

I really enjoyed my time with Ethicon, but sadly had some bad experiences that were simply not acceptable for me. Others' might have different experiences, and I hope mine was an isolated case. During my years in Ethicon, I had a serious lack of work-life balance, due to high demands. Demands were so high that my mental well being was impacted. The issues were escalated to HR and Management on multiple times, without a needed resolution identified or communicated. In addition, the company rejected to provide special accommodations. As I progressed with the company, I perceived what seems to be an encouragement of management by fear. Overall, it felt as if leadership encourages driving results at the cost of employees' well being.
