Pros

If you're looking for that all-elusive first job in programming then keep an eye on production or support jobs with Wood mac. They are very budget sensitive so will promote from within whenever possible, and if you push then you will get a chance to move to development.

Cons

Most in Wood mac views the IT department as an old-fashioned obstacle, including much of IT. The personal politics and 1950s working practises make life pretty unpleasant, and the emphasis on niche and obsolescent technology and penny-pinching product choices show up everywhere. You'll work with old, old hardware and you will be expected to work long hours without any give and take. I've never been in a company with so many people getting signed off for stress.

Pros

Appreciated working with smart, driven colleagues; they were truly experts in their fields. The rigorous schedules we were on were strictly maintained, which usually made for a very organized structure and workload.

Cons

Leadership went through many changes and acquisitions while I was there. The mission seemed to keep changing, and it wasn't easy to maintain consistency in our reports with such leadership changes. Market analysts were often pulled onto consulting projects but were not paid as consultants. This is what pushed me to leave.
