You don't get to see HR (they are invisible), Managers have a lot of power to take decisions, Managers promote their favorites (they have a way of overcoming the requirements set by the Company). Majority of the workforce is from other Banks like JPMC, ANZ, Morgan Stanley, HSBC, etc. They don't accept others who are experienced in other domains/companies. I was surprised when my manager called out openly that his 'P level' employees have rated him very low and that he was very upset over us. How can an anonymous survey results give the managers any clue as to who would have rated them low - that was scary. From then on, I have always given the top most rating in any anonymous survey. Also, 'P' role is not that great. There isn't much of a career progression for these roles. The grades are so confusing - a P1 role in one team has a grade of 60, where as in another team it is 90.
