Pros
- Incredible bunch of people who are always up for a good laugh. I’ve made so many friends for life here, most people are very down to earth and don’t take things too seriously. - Opportunity to work with high profile clients like L’Oréal, Vodafone, BMW etc. - Lots of jollies! Wavemaker spend a ton of £££ so media owners tend to favour them over other agencies. Meaning lots of freebies, lunches and parties. - Incredible office with rooftop terrace, cocktail bar and 360 views of London.
Cons
- Long working hours and poor pay. - Bureaucratic structure preventing the development of junior employees. - Promotions WITHOUT pay rise (very common occurrence), many people have left the company because the appraisal system is a complete joke. - Bully senior management who hire and fire staff on a daily basis without good reason. To the point that many clients are now KPI’d on staff retention. - Lack of support when it comes to employee’s wellbeing and mental health. If you admit to having depression and anxiety because of work related stress then you’re made to feel incapable and are told that it’s ‘just the industry’ - ‘Benefits’ that cannot be claimed without scrutiny such as gym hours, hot desking and flexible working. - Diabolical rebrand of MEC and Maxus. STOP with the buzz words, stop lying about the ‘purchase’ philosophy that seems absent everywhere in the business and stop adding ‘journey’ onto everyone’s job titles.
