Pros

The benefits are great. Good medical and dental plan for my family. I have 6 weeks paid vacation. Great 401k match (up to 4%) and you are given 10% of your salary per year into 401k. 18% of your salary per yer into 401k if you put down 4%, that's the biggest pro besides the vacation. Most of the people working in lower level management are morons which makes it easy to run circles around all of them and pick up great reviews each year

Cons

dress code is behind the times, everyone is too nice (brain washed), concentration is more on playing silly March Madness games instead of acutal business. VG is "cash rich" as one executive put it 2 years ago, however, they refuse to pay what competitors pay (I make more than most and I am satisfied...I feel bad for others however). Supposedly there are no politics. Hello, it's a giant corporation, why push that under the rug and try to pretend it doesn't happen, it happens everywhere. The big push of 2010 is Good To Great....well VG has a long way to go because part of the book states you are up to speed with competitors, which VG Brokerage is not.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
