Cons
There's not enough lipstick in the world to make working here worth it. When I first joined Urban Decay, I was enticed by the cool non-corporate culture, purple walls, puppies, and punk office vibes. As with anything, it's only a matter of time before you begin to see true colors shine through. Work ethics and attitude should always start from the top-down. Senior management is tyrannical and abusive and mean girl behavior is definitely encouraged. I have heard many coworkers across all departments share stories of being treated unprofessionally and personally witnessed some of the most regarded employees in the company publicly disrespect others with no consequence. I never understood how these "leaders" are able to get away with their actions but then again, I am not surprised. HR is a joke and a family affair. Several harassment claims have been made and the perpetrators are only dealt with a slap on the hand at-best. I can't believe a parent company as big as L'Oréal continues to allow this. It's no secret that the company is doing poorly and no one is trying to hide it. Execs are resigning and employees are dropping like flies. It's unfortunate because at one point in time, UD was the coolest kid on the block and such a fun place to work. Now it feels like everyone is desperately scrambling to keep the ship afloat. Morale is incredibly low in the office and the stress that upper management is wringing down does not help matters. If you were considering joining the company, thoughtfully reconsider because now is not a great time.
