Pros
A long lineage of fantastic product, a small team of close engineers able to compete with much bigger companies. All departments are close, so reaching across the isle and interacting with other teams is a breeze.
Cons
Management gets stranger by the day. Weird obsession with cell phone usage and off-task time. Some managers take your phone at beginning of day. PTO is denied as often as not. Benefits and PTO are sub-par at best, but presented as a very generous GIFT to you from the owners. You will "wear many hats" but barely be paid for one of them. If you want a raise or a promotion, you must complete a full presentation project and present to CEO and managers who will likely deny and make you do it again. Maximum 3% raise per year. Constant social interactions that are not optional, must attend with a smile. All the plus sides of working at Symetrix went out the door with the original owners in 2017. Micromanaging and virtue signaling, work yourself to death but if the financial goal isn't met, you did not work hard enough. Absolutely NO working from home for programmers. Owners and managers are family and all family get special privileges. Lower positions are treated with far less respect than other teams. A 27-page handbook of rules, and you will be made to feel like a bad person for not following them to a tee. Very Christian owners clearly hate religious discrimination laws. If you consider yourself a very normal person, look elsewhere.
