Pros

- Single room - Resources to help other students - Get to know other students - Student staff is tight-knit - Reliable, consistent schedule

Cons

- Incredibly low pay, note that room is not included in stipend - No work/life balance; you live where you work and you are never not working - If you have a good supervisor, your year won't be made worse. If you have a bad supervisor (incompetent, doesn't listen, doesn't care, avoids responsibility, etc.), there's nothing you can do to resist them. - Low level of antagonism from residents - Little choice about what hall you will be placed in. This means a great deal of variability in the number of nights for which you are on duty - Small budget ($100, $120, $125 for the whole year) for running events for residents

Pros

Northfield is a cute little Christmas town.

Cons

Unless you were a alumni from St. Olaf College you are always going to be treated like an outsider. Management tends to promote alumni before qualified individuals. HR will try their best to help you but you will realize that they are also at the whims of this strange insider club. When you ask for help you won't get it. There's a wink wink work culture here that you are expected to be working 24/7.
