Pros
If your a student it's perfect for doing homework. Most sites are flexible with school schedules. The healthcare sites are the best. If your a flex officer you can get a lot of overtime if that's your thing. It's a job not a career. They will pay for your state of California guard card. I have seen people get hired on at certain accounts in entry level jobs if you do a good job and actually care. For example at Dignity Health I have seen officers get hired as patient transporters or in housekeeping if you can get in good for the right people. It's more based on who you know not what you know.
Cons
The pay is low. Most sites pay minimum wage unless it's a union site or a healthcare account. The benefits are horrible. No sick time or paid holidays at most sites. Some of the people at different sites treat the officers like second class citizens and show no respect. But most sites the people are cool and friendly and treat you equal. You will work with some people that think they are cops and act like it. Your job is too observe and report. Your not a law enforcement officer. Your a security guard act like it.
