Pros
Lots of overtime work expected of employees, so good money can be earned. Pay scales varied at different plants, according to different contracts, but were above average for the plantation South.
Cons
Gruelling schedules: seven twelve-hour days/week for a month, or seven ten-hour days/week for weeks at a time. Travel to different states and stay in motels, with no per diem expenses paid.
