High-Speed Chaos: Great Pay, High Burnout - Director Engineering Rokt Employee Review

Pros

Experience Density: You’ll be exposed to a massive volume of projects in a very short time. Comp & Benefits: The financial upside and "experience per hour" are significant. Early Career Launchpad: Good for those who want to build a resume quickly and don't mind a lack of structure.

Cons

The "Start-Stop" Cycle: Initiatives are launched and killed so rapidly that meaningful progress is rare. It’s common to see 10+ initiatives die before they ever have a chance to impact the business. Cultural Exhaustion: The constant pivots aren't just inefficient; they’re draining. No one knows what’s next, which leaves the team feeling frustrated and perpetually "on edge." Leadership & Agency: Executive leadership changes constantly because senior talent isn't given the agency to lead. Most decisions are reactive—driven by CEO anxiety rather than a stable product roadmap. Technical Debt: You’ll build on "rotten" infrastructure where speed is the only metric that matters, leading to a "hope-based" data strategy.

Pros

Rokt is a great place to work with an abundance of opportunity for upwards mobility, even for entry-level employees. This was my first job out of undergrad, and I have already been promoted, given raises, and more! The team is also super positive with each other. Everyone is always thankful for the work you do! Rokt employee benefits are fantastic, the pay is competitive, and they also offer several opportunities to further your career within the organization. It is a high-growth environment where employees are appreciated!

Cons

Rokt is extremely fast-paced, and this isn't for everyone. However, if it works for you, than there is no better place to be. We are constantly learning, pushing ourselves, and doing it all at lightening speed.

Pros

Some of the people working there are genuinely kind and decent to work with.

Cons

- Work life balance is essentially nonexistent, with long hours treated as the default expectation rather than the exception - Evenings and weekends are frequently consumed by work, leaving little to no time for family or personal life - The pressure is constant and disproportionate to the compensation provided - Decision making is heavily controlled by the founder and a small inner circle, leaving little room for input or disagreement - Employees are discouraged from speaking openly, creating a guarded and restrictive communication culture - Trust between employees and leadership is extremely low and affects day to day interactions - Favoritism is clearly visible and influences who receives opportunities and who is overlooked - Talented employees regularly leave, and turnover has become expected rather than surprising
