Pros
Salaries have improved greatly since I started six years ago, fun and happy culture which promotes one to work hard, intelligent and friendly coworkers that take their job seriously but not each other and work/life balance exist. A lot of these things maybe specific to my particular group/department. So milage may vary across groups/department. Benefits are above average, I think the health care is particular strong. 401K matching is competitive as well.
Cons
Development opportunities are lacking, especially for those without PhDs. Wish they provided/encouraged more cross training or transfer opportunities for internal applicants rather than hiring externally. Communication has improved greatly since I started but still needs work, as expected though due to the tremendous growth. \ Some additional/unique perks would be nice, something along the lines of Genetech offering sabaticals after a certain period or transportation for those that live in city.
