Red Snapper Group

Is this your company?

Good on paper, but so awful in practice - Consultant Red Snapper Group Employee Review

Pros

- Members of staff are really friendly and genuinely seem to care about you once you make friends with them - Free breakfast in the morning and soft drinks from the fridge whenever you want - Flexible working hours are a big plus and working here will definitely look good on the CV - Great Old Street location (they are due to move to Alie Street in Aldgate in January however)

Cons

- A highly political and toxic environment to work in. You don’t know where you stand with the company - unless you’re making it money and are seen, but not heard. - Cliques are sadly in abundance in the office which is not the fault of employees – but of management and its practices. Gossiping and Chinese whispers were aplenty during my tenure with the company. - The MD (who legit looks like Ness from Super Smash Bros) and his closest advisers - namely HR - are all nice and smiles to your face. But they are always making judgments and talking behind your back – which I found out the hard way in the end. - CCTV cameras in the office – which I’m told on good authority the MD constantly reviews to potentially “weaponise” against employees. Small whispers abound he actually reads the emails of employees as well. - No compassion when it comes to a work/life balance – especially if it relates to an unforeseen emergency circumstance. Pray to God you don’t have one while working here.

Pros

- Fully remote - Flexible working - Good work life balance - Pleasant staff, who genuinely care and work hard

Cons

- Unhinged CEO who doesn’t really know what he’s doing. Control freak, dictator and generally just calls the shots regardless of the situation - Can only speak for the department I was in but there was no strategy, SLT oblivious/unsupportive and no real progression pathways - Kind of environment where it was difficult to actually achieve anything, no budget for projects and it was very easy to get complacent and find yourself in a rut - dated systems which have been improving slightly over the years but still below what you’d expect - just no transparency or direction in the department I was in, will vary from business to business within the group. Was hard to stay motivated and align projects with organisational goals or strategies because there were none - headless chicken culture with Martin being chief headless chicken

The people that weren’t management

Cons

Everything else, horrendous place to work with the worst commission structure. Work you like a dog with 0 benefits.
