Pros

Retiree health benefits and stock options

Cons

This review is for group insurance located in Roseland, NJ. They have been laying off and firing employees age 50+. Management would give a review but will provide negative comments to put you on probation and then fire you and will not change the comment even if it is proven false. The review is the company's documentation and it will be your word against their word. Believe this ADEA violation, but they throw in someone that is under 40 so that it will not be called age discrimination. Those employees that are removed have been in the company a long time and have greater knowledge than the college hire replacements. This all has to do with the bottom line as they have high expenses and need to trim expenses by end of 2017. They make employees work longer hours so that they can hire fewer employees and inexperience employees. Company states great work/life balance. Not the case as employees are working 10-12 hours a day and on weekends. Management expects the employees to complete all the work by unreasonable deadlines. However, no management is working late which causes employees be disgruntled. (If management expects employees to work late at night, set an example and do the same thing.) Beware that there is no promotions. If you work hard you will still have to post for the higher level job if it comes available. Also, non exempt employees (college grads) are working more than 40+ hours per week should be paid time and a half. based on Fair Labor Standard Act. Instead, management will give non exempt employees straight comp time and no overtime pay. Also, notice their are less minorities in Roseland. If you are a minority, it doesn't seem that you will last too long.

Pros

The culture and the way Pru treats it's employees is wonderful. They vet their hires thorougly, so you rarely find anyone that is not terrific in their role. Their benefits are also great.

Cons

Current AI adaptation has sent the tech side of the organization into a bit of a spin, as it has in almost all organizations. Due to that, some reorganization have been occurring, and many very talented leaders have been laid off. But the focus remains on the customer always, and no doubt these changes will level off soon.
