Pros

1) Decent work life balance 2) Some really nice and friendly people 3) Small company environment 4) HR and Talent management has great people, but their job is made difficult by some arrogant and Narcissistic MDs

Cons

I have two major cons I would like to mention, and they are the reason why I left in a short period of time. 1) Internal Audit focused. I joined the Tech Strategy Consulting group after spending 5+ years in the Big 4. During the course of my interviews I was told about all the tech strategy projects that they are working on, which was a huge driver for me to join the firm. I was going to join the group to bring my experience in the Big 4. Upon joining the firm, I realized that all those "projects" that I was told of during my interviews did not exists. I waited more than a month to get staffed on a month-long project. Most of the projects that came to me were all internal audit or some type of audit related work. Having never been part of any audit projects, this was a huge disadvantage for me. I was very clear during my interviews that my experience was on Strategy Consulting and that is where I would like to grow my career, however, 80% of the projects at Protiviti is audit related. Unfortunately, I found out after joining the firm and left within a very short time 2) Some of the MDs are narcissists. When I put in my two-week notice, on a Wednesday, the MD of my group told me that Friday of the same week would be the last day for me (2 days). Everyone in the firm (even other MDs) thought since I put in 2 weeks’ notice, I would get paid for the 2 weeks, since it was the MD (and hence Protiviti) who asked me to leave within 2 days of putting in my notice. I found out that the MD held a grudge against me for leaving the firm and decided not to pay me even though I put it 2 weeks’ notice. I am not concerned about the $$, but I was just astonished at how unprofessionally the MD behaved, almost childish. I am glad I left. FYI, I was one of the top performers within the group and received many accolades from my clients and the Tech Consulting group at Protiviti, so it was not performance related

Pros

Good WLB Great Bosses Health insurance & benefits are awesome Very flexible workforce Easy to climb up in promotions

Cons

Pay is below standard (Although I feel you still get paid decently for the area) If you're put on a production project, be ready to feel stuck. Management is very lost on where they want to head into the future. I am worried this company won't last much longer (Former arthur anderson) Can feel clique-y at times amongst peers (but this is not a problem of the company specifically)
