Pros

We got a bonus for writing a review on Glassdoor. This is part of their strategy to silence employee dissent: prevents ex-employees from leaving their bad reviews because they can't write a second review, and would be politically negative for current employees to submit a negative review to validate their bonus payout. North American practice is small (<100) but punches way above its weight in terms of clients & engagements (premium ticket pricing from industry top 5s). With that said, they are very specialized in heavy industries (mostly mining), so you won't get exposure to other industries like you might in other consulting firms. A good number of senior consultants (AP and up) have MBB backgrounds, so you get exposed to good project execution often if you're lucky enough to be staffed with them.

Cons

Compensation - PiP charges MBB fees but doesn't give MBB pay. If you are competent enough to work there, then there is an ocean of opportunities that are better paid, better recognized, more intellectually stimulating, more fulfilling, and have better work-life balance. Only took this job because of the COVID job market and quickly surpassed their salary progression after leaving. Mid-level consultants (non ex-MBB) - Some are fine but the rest are crabs in a bucket. I've never met a more concentrated group of self-righteous, insecure, unpleasant, emotionally-unwell bullies in my life. Although *some* of them come from reputable B-schools, they were bottom-bucket and it becomes apparent during engagements. They have used setbacks (even when unrelated to me) to emotionally lash out under the guise of "constructive feedback". They have actively tried to undermine and undo my progress in a workstream because their proposal was rejected. They have tried to gaslight me into accepting false claims on my performance reports. They have also threatened to "put me in my place" when I got a Partner involved who back my case. Administration - Coerces new & unknowing consultants into bad projects that everyone else rejected by staffing you without consent. Fabricated essential worker letters to get consultants traveling again during lockdown before the availability of COVID vaccines for projects that could have been done remotely. Unresponsive and unempathetic to family emergencies. Lack of transparency. A lot of admin work that's expected to be done by admin end up being handled by the consultant on their own time.
