This is a terrible place to work. - Anonymous employee Northrop Grumman Employee Review

Pros

Decent pay, flexible hours, that's it.

Cons

Everything else. Not good benefits. No recognition of talent. Everything is a firedrill and therefore gets done half right. The Rolling Meadows location feels like you're working in a dungeon. The building has no windows and sucks the life out of you. The company only spends contract money, and refuses to spend overhead, meaning that you end up having to "donate" your own time to work a lot - this is the worst policy the company has.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate you sharing your concerns and feedback with us. While we don’t profess to be perfect, we are working hard and devoting significant resources to employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion efforts to create the best culture possible for our workforce. We are also directing significant spending in R&D and capital projects to make sure that we have the cutting-edge technologies and solutions that our customers want, and that our employees have the latest tools and equipment. We are sure that employees at this facility recognize that the very sensitive nature of the work that we do there, plus the wide range of development, manufacturing, and testing activities under way in all parts of the campus, do not always allow us to provide as many windows or as many open spaces as we would like. But we continue to upgrade and improve common spaces at our facilities to make them more energy efficient, safe, and comfortable for our folks and I think you’ll see positive developments in the near term. Our sector Executive Leadership Team emphasizes to all of our people that there should be no fear in providing feedback, whether it be positive or negative, about our leadership, our policies and practices, and about workplace decisions that affect their daily quality of work-life and ability to perform at our best for our customers. PLEASE, take advantage of your local all-hands meetings, focus groups, roundtable discussions, employee engagement projects, and Employee Resource Groups to share your concerns and suggestions for constructive change and improvement. Your immediate Management chain and Human Resources personnel are also there to listen and to provide opportunities to make workplace and culture changes that can benefit you and your colleagues. Finally, our Employee Assistance Plan and our 24/7 OpenLine are other resources for you to explore and utilize, particularly if you wish to remain anonymous.

Pros

Great work life balance Amazing work culture - some of my favorite peers have been Northrop Employees Benefits are really nice Work can be really exciting at times, giving me the opportunity to take ownership over complicated projects and tasking

Cons

Red tape makes speed tough at times. There can be really slow periods for far too long The promotion system is truly terrible. There are no incentives to stay or go above and beyond. They are unreasonably firm on time-in-seat, way too slow to act (they take months), and low ball you on promotional offers. So you could be a high performer for years, but the new-hire with no experience with the company will likely make thousands more than you do. It's backwards, and it's really the only reason I left.
