Pros
I spent nearly 13 years at Nokia and have virtually nothing but positive things to say about my experience. They strongly encouraged internal job rotations, so I had incredible opportunities to experience a wide range of different areas of the company. The culture was extremely supportive and the organizational hierarchy was very flat. If you were bored at Nokia, you only had yourself to blame because they were always working on new, cutting edge products and technology- if you were feeling tired in your current role/organization, then you could easily find something else within the company if you just looked around.
Cons
While Nokia did make a concerted effort to offer competitive salaries for the past few years, for many years (especially when they were they dominated the global cell-phone market) they paid considerably less than industry standard. There was a bit of ego in the compensation policies, and I often felt an unstated code of "you're lucky you get to work for Nokia, if you want to get paid more go somewhere else...". The fact is however, it was true. I stayed there for the MANY other benefits (financial, professional and academic), and eventually my salary was above industry norm.
