Pros
Flexible working, I was able to choose my start and end times. Above average salaries for what is required of you, for administrative and analytical roles it pays above the local rate. Rail season ticket discount Encourages internal promotion and movement, helps to understand the different parts of the organisation but the type of work is very similar (e.g admin and form filling) Relatively secure job, regular reorganisations but there is usually a job there if you want it.
Cons
Roles very narrow in terms of responsibilities. Due to the size of the organisation the role responsibilities are narrow and little opportunity to take on work types of work. Management not interested in the skills you have to offer and the potential benefit of using them. In my experience management were happy to let things go as usual and not interested in using employees' skills to improve processes. Top heavy company therefore little opportunity for entry level employees to gain new skills and be challenged. Majority of interesting ad-hoc work given to mid level employees therefore entry level employees get no opportunity to gain experience, which is not good for long term career prospects. Very little opportunity for training and sponsorship. Slow decision making from management and
