Pros

The offices and locations are beautiful as to promote the MetLife image. Most are in high rise buildings in major metropolitan areas. Benefits are also pretty good. There is a variety of packages to choose from and this is one of the only companies where an admin person can get a pension. They also offer a Roth 401K which is few and far between. Most of the managers are purely promoted sales people that have no personal and human interest in the lives of the employees. They want you to make money and then make more money. They pretend to have interest in the lives of the employees but in reality they only care about numbers and hitting the conferences. They will promote anyone to "Director" but these "directors" only make about $40,000/yr. Far from the typical director salary.

Cons

In the P&C segment, pay is below the industry standard. The bonus program is a joke. It is presetned as being performance based but in reality it is design for a manager to reward their own. I can attest that cronyism is alive and well at Met. There was a push a few years ago to bring more African Americans on bored as a result of a lawsuit, but now its back to the "Good Ole Boy" network. By all counts the minority pay is below that of the counter parts. In the event you desire to return to the 1960's, then apply at MetLife.

Pros

Benefits, PTO, remote, some team mates are cool and super helpful. But they don’t want you being too chatty. Process process process. The pay is low for the stress is gives.

Cons

The pet department has really gone downhill ever since they implemented their “AA” system, which is just terrible to work with. You have to meet their metrics which it’s great to have QA and claim evaluations in place however, they will dock points for the most minor things, but you’ll see AA process things incorrectly, the supervisors process incorrectly, the team leads process incorrectly…. But only the adjusters will get points docked and write ups. And now they expect you to find the AA errors and send it to them, then send it back to you to correct…. But if YOU made that mistake, points docked. In the beginning, before AI, it was a really great job to have, I felt proud to come into work like I was making a difference but it turned into such a demoralizing and depressing job. They stopped treating us like humans over the past 12 months. Hearing the email and task alerts is enough to give you PTSD.
