Pros

There is a select few people at the company who really go above and beyond day in and day out to get the job done for the clients - but they do this because of their own high standard of work and not due to any branch or regional leadership or quality of training.

Cons

The company publicly appears to be one of the best specialist couriers in the world but behind the scenes there are constant, repeated, dangerous, uncompliant and in some cases even illegal operational issues. The company fails to acknowledge operational failings and address them with corrective actions to benefit the whole company in the future. Instead you end up with senior management satisfying the 'in fashion' KPI and corporate targets and conveniently pushing the actual issues to the back of the warehouse, literally in some cases. As an employee you have virtually no HR representation - the Feltham branch has one HR rep for over 60 employees and there is a massive conflict of interest internally - anyone at the branch knows exactly what this means. On a consistent basis you see the wrong people getting rewarded and with over-inflated and sometimes even confusing job titles that results in a really inefficient company network. During the Covid-19 pandemic every operational and customer facing staff member was expected to give up virtually all of their time to get the job done and any concerns just fell on deaf ears. Management took advantage of the remote working situation to make sure people were overworked and unrewarded with flaky promises of improvement that were nothing more than an attempt to placate the staff and delay the issue to another day. If you go to Marken then expect a constant atmosphere of negativity and a finger-pointing blame culture that leaves you wondering why you should bother working hard at all.

Pros

There are no pros if I did not get hired

Cons

Pay advertised was not accurate * Lack of transparency in compensation * Wasted time and travel expenses I had a very frustrating experience with the hiring process. I attended the interview and was told my performance was “perfect,” which made it seem like I was a strong candidate. However, the role was advertised at a minimum of $30/hour, and later I was told the actual pay was closer to $20/hour. That’s a major discrepancy and feels very misleading. On top of that, I ultimately received a rejection despite the positive feedback. Between the misleading pay and the outcome, this process felt inconsistent and unprofessional. I also spent time and money on travel (gas) to attend the interview, which makes the experience even more frustrating. Overall, this felt like a waste of time and could have been avoided with clearer and more honest communication upfront.
